Tuesday’s forecast for Brandon via ECCC:  
“Cloudy. Periods of snow beginning this morning. Amount 2 to 4 cm. Wind becoming east 20 km/h early this afternoon. High minus 1. Wind chill minus 17 this morning and minus 5 this afternoon. UV index 1 or low”  
 
...with light snow continuing into late evening.  
 
0, -2, -4, -4, -4, -3 are highs for the six days after as of right now.

Anything beats what we’d already seen by this time last year, but it begs the question... will today go down as the first permanent snow of fall/winter 2020?  

Updated ECCC forecast has these highs for the next six days:  
-1, -2, -4, -4, -4, -2  
 
Weather Network has this for the same days...
+1, +1, -2, -2, -3, -3  

I think in the interest of being told what I want to hear, I'll go with Weather Network or jbb's rabbit theory   

Average high is normally +8 to +10 over those days so in theory it’s not *supposed* to hang around yet.  
Weather Network has us getting closer to normal by end of next week but by the time you get to November all bets are usually off!

I’d say between 8 and 9cm in my backyard... the fluffier stuff that’s fallen over the last few hours really added up!  
 
Light snow still falling, we'll see how ECCC does the official measurement but record for Oct 20 is 8.6cm in 1991. The record for most snow on the ground for Oct 21 is 8cm from that same year. That same year holds the "most snow on ground" all the way through the 24th where it appeared to melt down to 3.4cm but still hold the record for the 24th. So if anyone tries to tell you "it's Manitoba, it snows all the time"... wherever the actual measurements come in, it's actually quite unusual to have this much on the ground this early. Of course last year took the cake for an early dumping of white, but it basically melted off before November came along and made it permanent!

Looking at the forecast for next week, a bit torn over Tuesday. Saying snow Monday night into Tuesday, but that high of +5 though...

Okay, I give up... what does the rabbit-forecast-o-meter say now? ....

Good old fashioned forecasting methods say get one last look at that bare ground...
