I'm sure a few folks have already seen this on the Weather page or from other sources, but a heat warning (pasted below) was put out a couple hours ago by Environment Canada that includes a few things to consider with these temps. Imagine we'll see it again tomorrow with the forecast calling for it to get all the way to 36 (!!)

Heat Warning in effect for:  
 
City of Brandon  
R.M. of Cornwallis west of Shilo including Chater  
R.M. of Elton including Forrest  
R.M. of North Cypress including Carberry and Melbourne  
R.M. of North Norfolk including MacGregor Sydney and Austin  
R.M. of Oakland including Wawanesa and Carroll  
R.M. of South Cypress including Glenboro and Treesbank  
R.M. of South Norfolk including Treherne and Notre Dame  
R.M. of Victoria including Holland and Cypress River  
Hot and humid weather with generally sunny skies is expected to continue in Southern Manitoba into the weekend, as the area remains under the effect of a upper ridge of high pressure. Today should see temperatures reach the low 30's, with humidex values peaking around the 40 mark. On Friday southerly winds will develop bringing more heat and humidity into the area, with temperatures in the mid 30's and humidex values in the low-to-mid 40's. The heat and humidity will continue into Saturday at which time a cold front is forecast to sweep through Southern Manitoba, bringing much cooler and drier air into the region for Sunday.  
 
Watch for symptoms of heat illness, which include  
- dizziness or fainting, nausea or vomiting  
- headache  
- rapid breathing and heartbeat  
- extreme thirst and  
- decreased urination with unusually dark yellow urine.  
If you experience any of these symptoms during extreme heat, immediately move to a cool place and drink liquids. Water is best.  
 
Reschedule or plan outdoor activities during cooler parts of the day.  
 
Never leave people or pets in your care inside a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight.

Sorry. This is too hot! It is just as bad as extreme cold as I still have to keep kids indoors as this type of extreme heat can be dangerous to little ones.

Thank goodness some of us survived warm sunshine, hot weather and picture perfect weather with few bugs and freedom to go outside. I'm sorry, but I've heard everything now when I read in this post it's just as bad as extreme cold and the kids have to be kept indoors.

I have MS and the super hot days like we have had this week certainly don't do me any favours but I still like to go outside and enjoy the summer. Even if that means that I go outside for 20 mins and then go in and cool off for 40 mins. Its a balancing act that we must all play including children and elderly who we all know can be adversely affected by heat

I see the forecast for tomorrow has been revised upward to 37 degrees now.  
 
Can only seem to find daily historical data on Environment Canada's website going back to 2012, but for the weather page I've had the site recording hourly readings that they put out since the start of 2009. The highest number in the database for Brandon since that time was 36.5 on August 29, 2012. Other than that the only day since then that even hit 35 degrees was yesterday (unless today also did). Would take that with a slight grain of salt since they're only hourly readings and its possible that they recorded something slightly higher on that day before the temp started to go down, but tomorrow is clearly going to have a chance at being the hottest day in a number of years.

We still go out but instead of our usual 3plus hours spent outdoors we limit it to 30-45 minutes. Glad next week looks better!

From the Environment Canada site, looks like the record high for today since 1941 was 35.7 degrees in 2003. Forecast still saying we'll see 37.

Get those last breaths of thick warm air if its your thing....  
once the cold front makes it this way a bit later thats all she wrote. Pretty dramatic temperature differences right now in Saskatchewan on either side of it. Moose Jaw and Swift Current had a 7+ degree difference at 2PM, Saskatoon and Regina a 10+ degree (!!!) difference.

Cool down now at Moosomin, which is over 6 degrees less than Brandon. Humidex there is a full 12 degrees less than our +41.  
Dauphin to the North is almost 7 degrees cooler, humidex 9 less.  
 
Regina is only +23 humidex, a whopping 18 degrees less than here!!
