Spring Weather Ahead...

Some very warm temperatures and also some rain coming for the later this week and the start of the weekend (25-50mm) should help everything look green soon!

What are your thoughts?

Won't mind seeing the warm temps, but as for a whole bunch of rain I would be happy if we missed out on that, half an inch would not cause a problem but more would be a pain.

It will clean everything up so we can get started in our yards. Also help with the asthma/allergy issues we all seem to have these days.

Was great to enjoy a bit of warmer weather outside yesterday and will be today before this few day dip. Here's a link to the weather statement that's in place from Environment Canada re the "potentially significant precipitation event". I see its saying 25-75mm by Saturday night based on their most recent models:

Its all just in time for the weather station rain gauges, which went live on the weather page this morning (main eBrandon site and mobile site). Over the course of the next few days (or any time during the summer) if anyone's curious how much rain's fallen they can again check the weather page to see how much we've had over the last hour and over the course of the day at two different locations in the city.

Overall hard to complain about the weather we've had since winter started. I was the guy telling anyone that would listen in mid-March that no matter what the next few weeks were like I'd say we were really lucky to have the winter we had. Looks like I paid for that statement a bit with temps we had since then... but I stand by it

We need that rain so badly.

I actually hope it is a nice big dump because we have had roof issues and I want proof that they are fixed properly this time!

Cannot wait for the green and an end to the non stop dust on my car.

Windy and Rainy this morning. I think we are well on our way towards the 20-40mm that are forecasted for Brandon.

Interesting difference between the South (7mm) and West (5mm) rain gauges on the weather page so far.

Also an interesting difference in the wind. 55km/h gusting to 73km/h in Brandon. 9km/h in Portage.

For today, the live rain gauges on the weather page (https://ebrandon.ca/weather.aspx) on showing 6.3mm in Southern Brandon and about 6mm in Western Brandon. This in addition to 13.5mm and 9.8mm yesterday respectively. They'll continue to update throughout the day and summer, though jury's out on how they'll show accumulations if the snow builds up without melting!

For fun, added a couple of hourly graphs that show precip throughout the day yesterday and so far today for the Southern Brandon gauge.

Massive snowflakes now here in Brandon. Ground is now covered in a blanket of white.

Fwiw, the snow in the South gauge was just melted and turned up 0.9mm. Going to guess with these big fluffy flakes that normal "1mm rain=1cm snow" rules aren't in place today though!

Well, we have winter back West of Souris. Have had medium to heavy snow since early this morning and still coming down. It is a very wet snow, so will have plenty of moisture in the ground.

Not taking account rain earlier in the day, snow melted down at South and West Brandon at 4.7mm and 5.4mm respectively. Not necessarily an exact science to be taken literally but food for thought nonetheless. Environment Canada would I assume have more precise methods... Not sure if they'll just report a mm total for the whole day when they put out their number for Brandon or if they'd split out rain and snow.

All told, eBrandon gauges are showing just over 11mm of mixed precip at each location today up to right now.

The rain has mostly stopped and we went from 4mm to 48mm! That will have washed off the winter grime and get things growing, although a bit of sun and heat now would be nice
