If last week was the appetizer, it looks like the main course might be on the way. Just issued by Environment Canada.... add another 25-30cm onto the pile in Brandon if all turns out according to prediction. If it does end up accumulating that much it would be one of the bigger single-event dumplings in recent years.

I am currently sitting in Brandon and wondering where your snow is. We had about 18" in Souris with two more this morning. And there is more further west. I'm really hoping that 25-30 cm doesn't hit us this time.

Adam...come spring , you could have a contest for the date the Red & Assiniboine Rivers will overflow.
Been in our house for 28 years . This is the first year our sump pump has run in December !
Be ready to sand bag in he spring people ! !

Quite the thing when there can be such a big difference between areas that arent that far away. Family in Saskatoon were bragging the other day that they still have grass.... still a pretty big part of Sask and Alberta that have nothing going by:

Starting to come down a little heavier in Brandon. Looks like the thickest as of this moment is between the Sask border and Souris-ish:

Visiting family in Weyburn. They had a trace of snow. Woke up to about 4 inches with more coming down. We were planning on heading home this afternoon. Thinking we would be wise to wait another day.

Looks like the radar is tracking farther north and the city won't get as bad as they predict again.

Unless there is more over the States that is not tracking yet....

Braid, I agree, good thing that new bridge is going to be in use - looks like flooding is on the way again.

In addition to the saturated ground going into this snow, I have also noticed it is starting off to be a bad deer season in the East End - my yard is covered in deer tracks already....

I see over the last little bit that the total amount noted in the Brandon forecast over today/tonight/tomorrow is up to 25-35cm. As recently as a couple hours ago it was looking like 12-24cm

Now there is a monster system showing just to the South. Not too heavy, but huge. So it will all depend on which way it tracks....yikes.

Sledding season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gonna fire mine up tonight and take it for a rip in the yard. Bout time we got an early start to the season I'm pumped!

Really been filling in on radar over the last hour... can start to see how we could end up with the 15 more cm they're forecasting for tonight before another 5 tomorrow.

I expect there will be more closures.

I guess it was making up for the brown Christmas we had for Xmas 1997. I remember taking pictures outside with just a sweater on and absolutely no snow anywhere in Brandon.

Just got an automated call from Brandon School Division - no buses outside of Brandon tomorrow, schools outside of Brandon are closed, everything in the city is business as usual (at the parent's discretion).

Officially Env Canada has Brandon as having gotten 12.6cm yesterday. Still under a winter storm warning (same link as above) with the increase in wind making things that much messier. Forecast talks about 5-10cm today and 5-10cm tonight. The record for total snow on the ground by this day is 40cm in 1995. Long ways to go but maybe a chance of getting close to there if you take all of these numbers literally and consider the snow we had last week.

Foxwarren radar will of course show what's in the area of Westman right now (http://weather.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=xfw) ...but have a look at Winnipeg radar to see how the mess of it has progressed and to get an idea of what's happening to the Trans Canada going East today for anyone unfortunate enough to have to travel:
