Driving Conditions - March 6th

Just drove back from Souris. Left at 4:00 and arrived in Brandon at 5:11.

highway 250 is covered in ice with zero visibility.

Highway 1 between 250 and Kemnay is covered in ice, lots of emergency vehicles.

Don't travel!

Took me 40 minutes to get from Brandon to rapid city. Please turn your lights on and don't pass unless you absolutely have to. We were following a vehicle who was very close to the plow, decided to pass on a double solid, and almost caused a head on collision. All this and they didn't have their lights on. Drive safe and take extra time to reach your destination

The visibility is down to about 100ft, and whiteout conditions on both east-west roads and north-south roads.

There''s a multi vehicle collision between Brandon and Virden on the Trans Canada right now. I''m thinking it won''t be long before a lot of the highways begin to close, if they haven''t already.

Visibility is pretty much zero around Boissevain. Don't know how the highways are, but the gravel is bad so imagine the pavement is too.

Iphone and Android Manitoba 511 app

I see Manitoba 511 now has an app for Iphone and Android. It shows basically the highways map and webcams that you can get on the desktop.

zero visibility in town

I can't believe how bad the driving is in the city. Zero visibility and slippery...stay home people...I've been driving for 30+ years and have never seen it so bad!!

why are 10 and #2 west still open?!
drove home that way and visability is so bad you cant see past the hood, had to have a passenger watching out the side window at 5km/h
lots of cars stopped and in the ditch. these roads are not passable yet they still havent closed them

I just checked the Manitoba 511 app and all the highways around Brandon are shown in red, which means closed, right?

10 looks to be closed from Erickson to the US border.
