Brandon School Division buses will not be operating outside the City of Brandon for Wednesday, March 8th all day.  
 
Alexander School, École O’Kelly School and Spring Valley Schools are closed.  
 
Buses will be running within the City of Brandon. Please plan for possible delays to our in-city bus routes.  
 
Attendance at schools is at parental discretion where travel is required. Please call your school if you are not going to be attending.  
 
Please exercise due caution.

It''s so dangerous out there that our buses might be 20 minutes late.  
 
Is that what your lawyer said to add to avoid a lawsuit if a child gets hurt standing in a blizzard for a half an hour..

Holly crap eat a snickers. So if the city bus is a little late that is alright? People ride city buses with strollers all the time. Wanna take a shot at them too? If you don't want your child to take the bus then snuggle them at home when you are missing a day of work too or take a vacation day. Or maybe they toss it in there that dress in case of a slight delay. Wow we live in Manitoba. Good God if we all functioned like everyone wants us to on eBrandon we would be closed for business half the time. Oh too hot, oh too cold, oh too windy. Jesus.

I remember Walking in a blizzard in 4 feet of snow, uphill both ways.  
 
I get it, it's not you 8 year old walking on the street because the blizzard has blocked the sidewalks.

I wonder how many people would be screaming on ebrandon if the BSD closed the city schools due to weather.  
 
"It's not that bad in the city!"  
 
"It's not like the roads are closed!"  
 
"I can't take the day off work!"  
 
"They already get too many days off!"  
 
(by the way, these are things more or less said in other co-current threads)  
 
It's not unreasonable that buses outside of the city are canceled. The roads are currently closed and it's unclear when conditions will improve. As a result, it's also prudent to close the schools outside of the city (see previous reason).  
 
They keep the city schools open and it's up to the parents to decide if they send their kids. See the above discussion for the very political reasons why they may want to do this. They are warning you that the buses might be late due to conditions, but they are doing the courtesy of still running the buses. Refer to the above-list of complaints if they didn't run the city buses.  
 
If you are going to leave you kid outside for a 1/2 hour in a blizzard, I'm not sure the BSD is the issue here. A reasonable parent would make reasonable arrangments to ensure their child gets on the bus, if that's a concern, and they will make sure their child has a contingency plan in case the bus doesn't arrive.
