I’m with MTSBell right now. Irritated that they keep increasing the monthly charges with no explanation or warning.  
 
So looking at other plans and want the best deal possible. What times of year are the best deals out? Coming up to Black Friday/Christmas and New Years. So watching closely.  
 
Read a past eBrandon thread from last year discussion best services. Wondering how happy people are with their services?

Not really sure the best time to look, but I'm with Public Mobile (owned by Telus) and am quite happy.  
 
It depends if they have a plan for what you need, but it works for me.  
 
Also, if you're not happy with what you're paying, call and mention you're thinking of cancelling and going elsewhere due to cost. Most often you can work something out if you're polite about it.

Anyone considering public mobile keep in mind their data speed is only 3G (up to 3mbps download)  
 
They are pretty competitive won't likely find any really good deals or at least you don't seem to anymore. I'm using Koodo, brought my own phone, 4GB of data and unlimited minutes and texts for $50 a month. Zero issues with them for little over a year now.

are you looking just for a cell phone plan? or you want to upgrade your phone as well.

questions need answered before making suggestions. Like  
where do you use your phone? Manitoba only, Canada only or North America wide.  
where do you call to?  
how much data do you need? having unlimited data is no benefit if you only use 1 GB a month  
where do you use your data? Manitoba only, Canada Only, North America wide  
Do you need a new phone? Some plans are cheaper and no contract if you supply your own phone.  
I have been purchasing my own phone for 7 years and it has worked well for me.

Lots of good questions. I will make some decisions before going any further.

I saw a report that Saskatchewan has the cheapest plans in the country. Some people here who know someone in SK set up a Sasktel phone and account and use the phone here. You have a 306 area code number though. Wouldn't be too inconvenient these days with online account viewing and payments.

This isn't true, well certainly not as far as if you are looking at unlimited plans. Bell/telus are around 65-75/month depending if you catch a promo for 15g u limited(throttled after 15g), sasktels 5g unlimited starts at 80/month(throttled after 5g). For their 15g plan it is 100/month.
