Rogers to start charging for roaming in CANADA
8/13/2009 at 8:16 PM
If you go camping (or driving through) in Northern Ontario and you pick up a signal with your Rogers cellphone, you will be charged a roaming charge.
Roaming charges will apply in Dryden, Red Lake, Ft Frances, Atikokan, SX Narrows, and Upsala Ontario.
No domestic rates will apply in these towns. This includes airtime, long distance bundle, or data packages, etc. Just like being in another country
Charges will be as follows:
60Cents per minute + applicable Long Distance (30 cents / min)
MO-SMS - 60cents / msg
MT-SMS - 15cents / msg (incoming texts)
Data - 5cents / kb...charged in 1kb increments
this is just WRONG! If Rogers thinks about charging customers an arm and a leg when the new MTS HSDPA network is up and running (even though Rogers is helping fund half of it), I will be switching to a different company. So long to "NO Roaming charges in Canada"
