Interesting. Can you please share a source including link if possible when posting these updates.

You need read into the docuements. Shows a 10,000sq.ft expansion. IT also contra-indicates as possible.

See what you were looking at.... to add 10,000 sqft on the South side to the existing 20,345 sqft. Looks like those documents are dated mid-2016, so not sure if plans have changed or if its something that would be looked at after all of the other work being done on the property? If anyone knows more please feel free to share.

I’m not saying an expansion to SportChek is a bad thing - if the business is doing well and needs additional space, good on them; however I wonder how many more parking spaces Morguard/Shoppers Mall is going to lose with this expansion if in fact it proceeds. I’d be interested to hear how many actual spaces have already been lost to the restaurants going up on the east side of the parking lot.

You’d think it would make sense for Sportchek to move into a portion of the sobeys by Canadian Tire since CT owns Sportchek. An old rumor was Sportchek was suppose to move into some of the old Safeway spot and old navy was suppose to put that 10,000sqft addition to make the old Sportchek space larger for them. Things seem to change year by year or month by month nowadays.

It would make sense to put it at the old Sobeys and do one half Sportchek and the other half Atmosphere.

but please don't take up anymore parking at the mall with an expansion at the current location. Move to the old Sobey's across the street. The mall can't afford to loose anymore parking.

Didn’t they announce a brand new store for the west end and expansion into the old Zellers/Fields on 34th it was this just a rumour? Sure need a new store desperately.

I don''t know it was ever announced that Sobeys was officially building a new store in the west end, but there was a ''Conditional Use'' application that was suppose to go before city council for approval, but from looking at the cities website there has been no meeting to discuss the conditional use yet. So who knows what the plan is. Its probably changed again.

But as for Sport Check I heard a year or so ago that they were moving out of the mall to a stand alone store, but who knows if that's true. There's so many rumors going around this city its hard to take anything you hear serious these days.

I agree with the parking. I also heard they were going into the old sobeys next to staples, and that building was going to be divided in 2. The other store as a rumor was a sister store of winners.
