I am vaccinated but wore my mask in stores today. I like the fact that if I am shopping and get overheated or spinny I can remove the mask and get some air.

Had one business say I didn't have to. As I was headed out the door she said how can I help you Mr X. As I glanced around I know Mr X has made many numerous anti vax facebook posts and was NOT wearing a mask. So rules are still being broken and possibly future mandatory wearing will be back.

Unvaccinated people not wearing a mask are not breaking any laws.

It is strongly recommended they wear a mask, but it is not against the law if they choose not to.

I was at Heritage Co-op on Friday evening. It wasn't all that busy when I was there. Co-op is one of the few places throughout this covid season which I feel comfortable for people respecting social distancing and you're never waiting in line at the till for very long. Most people were wearing masks including myself.

I'm looking to support stores that still have it mandatory if at all possible. I like idea of all wearing them as opposed to some.

Forbidden Flavours on 18th is one I’ve seen sharing that masks remain required when entering.

For national/international franchised quick food places, not necessarily customers but I’ve only been able find one that didn’t have all staff masked and let’s just say I’ve been in a lot. Not a rule at the prov level as far as I know, but seems like a lot of corporates are keeping it up in staff for the time being. Important to me right now if a place is serving food whose next destination is my mouth that it's been handled with a mask in between. I appreciate how widespread that's the case.

Yet, while no "legal" laws are being broken, societal laws are. There is an expectation now that wasn't in place before. Personally, I do not want anyone standing a foot away from me in line (to be fair pre-pandemic I never liked strangers that close to my person) and will let it be known if necessary.

Just because Pallister dropped the ball doesn't mean as a society we don't need to pick it up and carry it to the finish line. Someone has to be the adult in the room.

I am done wearing masks for the time being. When the fourth wave gets here, and numbers start climbing, then I will follow the guidelines given by public health.

While a cloth mask may not provide the same protection to yourself or others as N95 certified PPE it is still making a difference. If I had to jump out of a burning plane I would choose a 70% effective homemade parachute over jumping bare. And I wouldn't feel that saying "the plane had not crashed [i]yet[i] so there's no need to worry" as an argument. We are still in the middle of a global pandemic with a novel virus that has already produced several concerning variants and continues to infect thousands around the world every day. Just because the first class seats are not on fire doesn't mean the plane is saved either.

Co-op, I was pretty disappointed in walking in there today and more staff without masks than customers. Thought co-op of all places would have an employees mandated to wear masks especially while working with food!

Was at co-op today and I’d say about half of the staff were not wearing masks. Didn’t bother me though, probably fully vaccinated.

I was in Lady of the Lake today and in both the store & the cafe the staff were all wearing masks! Very reassuring

My wife works in a co op grocery and mask wearing for staff is now optional. Although fully vaccinated she chooses to wear a mask for the protection of other staff members and customers.
The policy of optional masking in store creates confusion, animosity and causes unnecessary risk to everyone during these pandemic times. People are confused and anxious, mandatory masking reduces these risks and eliminates confusion .

Doesn't matter when you can still catch the Delta variant and spread it unknowingly as the vaccine reduces your symptoms.

Also, the reason the U.S. is talking about giving the booster most likely in late September is because they are finding the vaccine is lowering in effectiveness as time goes by

This was not the time for Palister to drop the mandates.

Always could breathe fresh air.....just not in public buildings. I bet the thousands of Americans who have filled the ICUs and Emergency rooms AGAIN expressed those same sentiments as they all too willingly dropped their masks.

Since the pandemic started all we have had to do is follow the American news to know exactly where we would be in a couple months. Instead of learning from their mistakes we keep insisting on competing with them for stupidity trophies.

was the best for covid protocol checks. I'm okay if some of the staff don't want to mask up, I wear mine. Was shopping the other night and the cashier wasn't wearing a mask. I still went thru and paid for my groceries.
If we stop shopping at all stores/business where not 100% employees are masked, well, we'll save a lot of money won't we?

I’d say about 3/4 masked in the mall this pm when I was there. Nice to see because it was pretty busy to the point where distancing not always easy in corridors and some stores. Maybe it was just in my time there, but those not masked to me appeared to be in majority under 30… more full younger families among that than I was expecting.

Sobey's south and C tire today before 1:00, not even 20% with a mask, families and groups, standing and blocking aisle while gabbing with people, no social distancing.

Covid has not gone away, this is just asking for another lockdown in September.

I think it depends on which Co-Op. Boissevain is Boundary Co Op (as are Killarney and Deloraine).
From the Boundary Co Op website:
"When visiting Boundary Co-op, we urge you to continue following the signage for one-way shopping and ask that you maintain physical distancing. Our team members will still be following the fundamentals; frequent sanitizing, physical distancing, and we will continue to wear masks."

Covid 19 will never go away. It was meant to stay. I will wear my mask forever when I’m going into public places. I don’t want what’s coming out of maskless peoples mouth and nose so I choose to wear a mask and keep my distance.

This study says that improperly worn masks are less effective than properly fitting masks.

This point is made in the abstract that you quote and repeatedly throughout the body and conclusion.

Everyone already knew this.

Actually it's not hard to figure out you repeatedly tell us you farm West of Virden. Pretty easy to figure out. And actually your Coop is following the guidance of our medical experts so I'm not sure why they made a mistake as you say. If you want to wear a mask while you're checking on your cows in the pasture then so be it but don't judge others that are not doing anything wrong by not wearing a mask.

Health Canada advises that masks are worn indoors. That is the guidelines.
A responsible business should protect its staff and customers by following public health guidelines and self regulate by mandating mask wearing in store. It is proven to be a simple, easy and effective way to prevent spread of virus.

people would stop singling out COOP. It's a great place to shop. I especially appreciate that customers can't shuck their corn in store.

There is currently no law in place asking anyone to wear to mask. It is simply not your business. If you are scared of being around anyone without a mask....there is curbside pickup available at most stores.

I refuse to bullied by the "fear-mongering crowd" when I'm not doing anything wrong.

Health Canada also advises you wear a condom when you have sex with a stranger. It is not a requirement. Just because people choose not to do what you do doesn't mean they are wrong. Get over it. The proven method for stopping the virus is vaccination. If you want to wear your mask all day then wear it no one cares. But stop your incessant bashing and ranting about people and buissness that don't share your same view.

Do you either of you know a person that could not protect themselves , who contracted covid 19 and then died alone with no family close by while fighting for her last breath? Didn’t think so.
The only bullies are yourself.
Get over yourselves, think of and protect those around you.
Vaccination is the path forward but fully vaccinated people can still spread the virus.
