Strange pricing at Future Shop
12/20/2009 at 7:05 PM
Was in FS here in town about 6 weeks ago and found a Denon amp that was exactly what I needed as an upgrade to my home theater. The price was about $350 - quite good considering the features. The price tag was a normal "lowest price" tag, not sale or clearance or anything like that. It was even in that weeks flier for the same price. I thought I would leave it and purchase closer to Christmas if I still thought I wanted it.
So, I walk into FS today and find the same amp with a $500 price tag on it! I did some searches on the internet and confirmed that this was the same model I had been looking at - low end for Denon in this style. Asked a sales guy why the price was suddenly $150 higher close to Christmas. He claimed that he didn't know anything about it and said that he didn't have the ability to look up past prices on items (my, how convenient).
Is this an example of FS jacking up prices on some items to cover profit losses on sales items at Christmas? Is there any way to see back issues of the FS fliers???
Sure looks strange to me... you can't tell me that they can't show old date prices on items they regularly stock... comments???
