If you have the receipt take it back and get a new one. They will honour the best before date

It seems like anything that can go bad goes bad in my house before it should. I basically gave up buying fruit and veggies because they are thick with mold in a couple days and bread goes moldy everytime! I put ground beef in the freezer and two weeks later it's grey and whether its still good or not im not eating grey ground beef when its supposed to be red or at least pinkish brown! We throw out more food than we eat. I have to say though milk is one thing I've never had an issue with.

that plastic jugs are not the best vessel to store milk and that it degrades quickly in plastic. Try buying the cartons instead!

Could depend on temperature of the fridge and how much you open the door

As stated by others, lots of things can affect how long milk stays fresh. Storage temp, both at the store and at home, would be the biggest I would think. I would also think that how long a carton/ jug is out of refridgeration would make a difference - for example transporting home in the car, or how long it took the person stocking shelves to get it into the cooler. And how warm/ hot it is outside or in the car, even if only for a few minutes.
