I think maybe it's because they are gearing up for the Christmas (yes I said CHRISTMAS not holiday) season. They are probably trying to fit in as much product to sell as they can to make more sales. Just my guess.

I hate how Canadian tire is! It makes me feel claustrophobic! Everything is so tight and piled so high. Oh well

Feel the same way at Canadian tire....hope nothing falls on anyone. Everyone is looking up and trying to squeeze through. Seems like Canadian tire is trying to capitalize on the toy market here now so that is taking up some room too. Not just at Canadian Tire but with many stores here being so crowded or always out of stock and as the second biggest city in MB and growing can we not have second locations of things like Canadian tire, Superstore, etc. Ordering online is becoming more popular in general and many here in Brandon are shopping online and heading to Wog and elsewhere for many items.

I'm not sure if its the holiday season.. but Canadian Tire has been shifting this way since the summer...

i agree but i am also not a fan of the new layout, i dont find i can see the products as good so im not as intrigued and just get out as fast as i can, i guess good for me but bad for their sales lol

It's a new owner at CT, he doesn't want to warehouse any product, would rather have things how they are now and put everything on the sales floor. Personally I think it looks terrible, but it's not my store to lay out how I would want it. Although I would think shoplifting will rise because it will be easier for thrives to disappear in the store.

Too bad. All Canadian Tires should portray a standard look.

I went to Canadian tire today and left. Cart collision in mini isles and everything I wanted last week was now moved. I said screw it and left. I went to Walmart and bought what I wanted for less. It's sad.

Whose bright idea was it to put all the Christmas light displays in the middle of one of the busiest main aisles that people walk down? Couldn't even get through the store today, the whole aisle was jam packed.  
 
The new set up is brutal and I won't be back. Which is sad because we used to spend a lot of money there.

bunch of small town Manitoba complainers! Also christmas time is chaos busy everywhere and depending where you live in Brandon you will end up in traffic jam driving to walmart.

its true we get used to having our space and room out here but whether CT is crowded or not i still dont like the layout, probably wont change a thing because CT is one of the only options here for the products they carry but i hope one of the employees make sure the new owner sees what we think of the new layout

Yes, I am an out-of-town complainer! I bet a huge percentage of people who shop at CT are the same. I also know a lot of "big-city" Brandon complainers who don't want to go back to CT, and are headed to other stores to do their shopping. Nice of you to assume only the outsiders are complaining. We were there on Sunday and it was ridiculous. It reminded me a whole lot of Walmart (where I never go anymore) with its crowded aisles and very few tills open. CT has always been our go-to store, and have always joked that if it sold groceries, we'd never go anywhere else. Not after Sunday.

i thought the post said SMALL town complainer, which i took as we are so used to small tow way of life, like easy uncrowded shopping and all the other luxuries us small town manitobains take for granted yet many in the cities have so much other crap to deal with like crack head neighbors, gangs and much more that a change is store layout or "bad" driving doesnt even affect them

I like shopping, dont mind crowded cluttered aisles, jerks blocking aisles visiting like they're the only ones in the store, and even crabby holiday shoppers will not chase me out of a store. But I can not be bothered to search for stuff. I went to Canadian tire last week and just walking in the door was enough to make me want to leave. I like to see openness and have a general idea of where everything is. I wont be going there anymore to browse and spend.

Wasn't long ago everyone was b!tching about Target being empty and no selection. SMH

Canadian Tire you see more staff in aisles and seem more friendly.  
Why whiners complain about layout and space...staff are the ones that work there all day with same amount of space you have and have endure all so maybe give them a smile instead whining.  
Smiles and hellos can boost your moody day

I wonder if the fire marshall wouldn't have a concern with isles that are clogged.  
Seems like a hazard to me.

consumers aren't entitled to their own opinion?  
 
When someone doesn't have the same opinion as you they are "whiners"?  
 
It seems to me, while reading many discussion topics, that the same posters have opinions on everything, and think it's only their opinion that right. (Just my opinion, but then I'm probably wrong )  
 

I go during their off-hours late in the evening during the week and/or late evenings on the weekends so I don't have to deal with the crowds... but that goes for anywhere that I shop - Superstore, Sobeys, Walmart. It's much more enjoyable to me that way, and parking's easier.  
 
I also like having more variety and more items to pick from, with one less stop for me to run around.  
 
To each their own, but I, for one, like the packed setup.

I also wonder if it is not a safety issue...the aisles are way to close together and the stock piled way to high.  
Can you imagine if emergency personnel had to enter the store? To me it is an accident waiting to happen.  
I too used to spend a lot of money there, but won't be back. I completed the customer survey on my last till receipt and expressed my thoughts on this current layout. I think the new owner is in for a big surprise when he tallies his $ for the season, as a lot of people I have talked to have the same opinion as the majority on this thread.

People have made the comment that " for a lot of items I would need assistance to get them down", but isn't the upper part just extra stock of what is reachable on the lower shelves? I guess if the lower accessible stock is gone, then assistance would be required which would have been the case if the excess stock was in the back, unseen. Least this way one can see there is more available. I was at a CT store in Wpg looking for shelving and could not find any. I asked at the service desk and was told there were 53, but not one was on the floor visible, therefore I almost left, but thought I would ask, thus a sale was made.

have begun avoiding C T if it's available at any other store. Very claustrophobic, and poorly marked. What could take 5 minutes, can now take more that 3x as long to find, imho

I find the new layout very claustrophobic and its very difficult to find things.  
 
Until the layout changes, I guess I will continue to shop elsewhere.

I can see that seeing the product availability could be an advantage as long as you find a worker, which i always have at CT but other stores that layout with all stock out have wider isles and still more built in displays so when you are wondering the store you can till see from the end of the isle that mixers are down this isle and can see what is available, you also can move around the store freely making you much more likely to browse and come upon a impulse purchase, where CT isles are so close you can barely get a cart down, and hopefully you dont meet anyone lol
