Have googled this topic there are a few brands they recommend . Clarks, New Balance, Rockport, Sketchers. Would prefer them to be very lightweight so I am considering sketchers for men . Is there anywhere in town where I can get a good deal on the shoes ?

I bought skechers for standing on my feet all day too. They are lightweight and they still did hurt a bit and coming home and walking barefoot or with slippers only made them worse, so I also bought Skecher slippers. Probably sales on since then.

Maybe go for a work boot. I wear timberland pro endurance for 10 hrs minimum a day, with no foot pain. They have an amazing insert in them. They are pricey($230ish). They are not too heavy. Timberland does also make shoes worth a look.

I wear Skechers for work and love them. I buy the thicker soled ones. I think they are called DLite.

I use new balance with a roll bar in it. It gives amazing support and they have a lot of option. If you go to most places like union shoe store or source for sports they usually have very knowledgable staff. Clarks are also a good quality leather type shoe. Mostly it depends on things like if you have a wider foot or a flat arch.

Never owned a pair but have heard good things about memory foam shoes. I'm sure many different brands make them but they would be very comfortable and light weight.

Cheap good shoes? Not going to happen. They won't last.  
 
If you are standing in one spot, fatigue mats help a lot.  
 
Go and talk to shoe sales people and tell them you will be standing on concrete and you need a work shoe. Go to different places until you find what you want.

Buy yourself some gel inserts from any pharmacy. You'll love them.

The best idea for good steel toes are Marks work wearhouse they have every kind of steel toe you'll need.  
Standing on concrete can make for long days. What I prefer is going for a referral on your feet. Orthotics from a doctor is the best answer. having good shoes or boots with orthotics is the best answer.  
Your work place should have coverage for orthotics as they are pricey

Have to thoroughly agree with this. Never was a Timberland fan however when buying new work boots last year came across a pair that my feet fell in love with in store.  
 
Fast forward a year and not only do I still have them in good shape( a challenge I find with work boots ) but still the best most comfortable, supportive and long wearing footwear I have, or have ever had for that matter. These things are so good I wore them Christmas shopping this weekend over any other boots or shoes I own.  
 
Want good long comfort, don't cheap out

Skechers D'lites. I am on my second pair, the older pair lasted me 3 years.  
I work for PMH, and I am on my feet constantly and on cement floors.  
Before my skechers I had Aasics, New Balance, Nike. They were all terrible, and fell apart after 6 months. I suffered with plantar fasciatis and heel spurs until I got the D'lites. I believe Skechers also has a work boot with the memory gel.

I forgot that I did that. Why did I forget? My feet do not bother me any longer.

I was having back and hip problems. My sister in law showed me her pair and they happened to be on sale. For the first day, I took a older pair to change into and never had to. Eight hours on a concrete floor did not bother me. I now own about ten different pairs of Sketchers from the work sneakers to the Mary Jane type dressy shoes.  
 
What size are you? I could lend you a pair to test drive them as the rolling action of the sole might be difficult to get used to.

New System Store on Rosser has as much selection, possibly more. They also have staff that know their product. At the place you mentioned its very hit and miss - you might get somebody who knows something about boots but probably not much.

I have been having the same search and have an odd size. Today I went to Unique Uniform Shop on Park and 13 and tried on a pair. They felt quite good but a little too narrow so ordered some in my size and wide. The brand is made for health professionals who stand on their feet all day so I'm very hopeful. And they look nice.
