Maybe not exactly what you are asking, but my aunt just said that the Shopper's Drug Mart location near the hospital used to be the original location of Stan's IGA, later Stan's Fine Foods, which had been there since 1977.

That is the info I was really looking for. None of us at the supper table could remember. But that rings bells now! I knew of the 18th street and Stan's IGA info but was really stumped as to where it was to begin with.
