Anyone know where I can get a laptop factory reset? I can usually do it myself but I got a new laptop that runs on windows 10 and I can't get into the Microsoft account to log into it.

I got a new laptop Windows 10 too and am having trouble logging into Hotmail. It keeps telling me to create a Microsoft account, then won't let me in to do anything.  
Anyone else having problems or is it just me?

Oh Sorry. Let me try again. Give a couple smiles for positiveness. I have had this issue before and contacted Microsoft since it is their software and I had an issue with their software.

Also pointing someone to solve the problem is positive feedback. No different than when people come on here complaining about Westman and MTS internet before calling them and saying they have a problem. Would it not make sense to call the supplier/manufacturer/etc when you have a problem first?

Appreciate the contact #, just trying if possible to avoid one of those help lines where you get put on hold and listen to elevator music. and then talk to someone who speaks at a level miles above my rather limited computer knowledge. It's just nice to know if it's a software problem or just me.....

You can get to reset by restarting your PC from the sign-in screen. Press the Windows logo key Windows logo key +L to get to the sign-in screen, then hold the Shift key down while you select Power > Restart in the lower-right corner of the screen. After your PC restarts, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.  
 
You will have 3 options:  
 
Keep my files  
Reinstalls Windows 10 and keeps your personal files.  
Removes apps and drivers you installed.  
Removes changes you made to settings.  
Removes any apps your PC manufacturer installed. (If your PC came with Windows 10, apps from your PC manufacturer will be reinstalled.)  
 
Remove everything  
Reinstalls Windows 10 and removes all your personal files.  
Removes apps and drivers you installed.  
Removes changes you made to settings.  
Removes any apps your PC manufacturer installed. (If your PC came with Windows 10, apps from your PC manufacturer will be reinstalled.)  
 
Restore factory settings  
Reinstalls the version of Windows that your PC came with (either Windows 8 or Windows 8.1) and removes your personal files.  
Removes apps and drivers you installed.  
Removes changes you made to settings.  
Reinstalls any apps your PC manufacturer installed on your PC.

I can usually get on the Microsoft live chat line in less then 5 minutes.if worse comes to worse,they will remotely take over your puter and fix the problem

With the OP being first posting....how does one know that this laptop isn't stolen and they are trying to figure out how to reset it to use themselves? I had a post removed for a RV camper security flaw due to potential criminals using it to their advantage. One can never be too careful.

I got the laptop from my grandfather who passed away last March. It didn't seem important at the time to ask for his password. I've been trying to get into it without resetting because there's lots of priceless pictures on there but I need it for school in the fall. I definitely did not steal it thank you for throwing that out there.

I don't know enough of the security questions or his first password to get into the account. I tried that last year. I just wanted a good computer place to take it to to see what they say

And how was one supposed to know that? Would have giving you a different approach if you i:ncluded that in the first place. You said you got a new laptop. Didn't realize it was a "new to you" but used laptop. Hope the other way works for you and sorry to hear about your grandfather. Good luck. You can also get pics off by taking the HD out and using like an external drive.
