Where is the cheapest place in Brandon to get a propane tank filled

Pretty sure its Hertz rentals on Park Ave East near Richmond. Go into the office and ask at the desk. Not positive if they are open Saturdays ir not.

I think Mar-Dee has good rates too last time I checked.

Some places look like they're cheaper than others but it's because you're actually getting less. Ask the place you are going if they're filling your tank By Water Capacity or by Volume.  
Here is an example.  
 
Lets give some figures first. There's 10lbs of water in an imperial gallon. The specific gravity of liquid propane is .5 so there is 5lbs of liquid propane per imperial gallon  
 
An average BBQ propane tank has a water capacity of 5 imperial gallons.  
 
To fill a 5 imp gal tank by volume first we convert the gallons to lbs of propane which would be 25lbs a propane tank can be filled to 80% when filled by volume so the math would be 25x.80 which is equal to 20lbs fill of liquid propane.  
 
If we filled the same tank by Water Capacity code only allows the table to be filled by 42% this time because we are filling by WATER capacity we used 10lbs of water per imp gal for the math. So 5 imp gal would be 50lbs W.C. 50x.42 is equal to 21lbs of liquid propane.  
 
So if filling by Water Capacity you will be getting an extra lb of liquid propane in your table.  
 
Now let's say for the simplicity of math that 1lb of propane is $1  
 
If you go to a fill station that fills your tank by Water weight you're paying $21 to fill your tank.  
 
Like wise if you go to a fill station that's filling your tank by volume you're paying $20 to fill your tank.  
 
It looks like the second option is cheaper when in actual fact it's the same price you're just purchasing less product.  
 
I've seen some places that fill by volume charge slightly more then places that fill by W.C. your end bill works out to the same amount but you're getting less product and over time thats meaning a lot more profit for the filling station.  
 
So while I haven't gave you any advice on where the cheapest propane in town is I've gave you an idea of how to figure out if you're getting the most bang for you buck lol.

Coop it is 27 dollars for 20 pounds

Got mine done in Winnipeg this weekend at Costco. $7.96 for my 20lb tank. $27 to fill in Brandon is crazy. I also like how coop in town charges for 20 liters when they only fill tanks to 80% capacity as per Dangerous Goods rules. Plus I don't know many people who take a completely empty tank to get filled either. I guess they like take a little extra as a tip. Ah well lucky I only need a tank or 2 a year filled so Costco it is.

Yes after a little more reading you are correct.  
 
All propane tanks have a "tare weight" or "T.W." stamped on the collar of the tank. For a grill sized tank you simply calculate the tare weight + 20 lbs, and that's how much the tank should weigh when it's full. Most 20 lb tanks have a tare weight of +/- 17 pounds when completely empty. This means a "full" propane tank should weigh about 37 pounds.  
 
1 gallon of propane weighs 4.2 pounds  
A "full" 20 lb cylinder should have 4.7 gallons or propane in it.  
 
But again not many people getting a completely empty tank and they certainly don't fill them to the proper capactiy most of the time. So how ever ya look at $27 to fill a tank is a rip off but then again there is little to no competition so why not fleece us?

When the boys are done peeing on each others shoes about weights and measurements, then maybe the OP will get an answer to the question that was asked.  
The two most affordable places to get propane in Brandon are MarDee and Hertz.

All places weight propane into the tank so you should never be playing a flat rate of $27.  
 
For example if you go to co-op on 6th you don't just drop the tank at the fill scale and then go and pay $27. whoever is filling it will tell you to tell the cashier that you need to be billed for x number of lbs. If your tank still has 3lbs of liquid in it they can't and won't bill you for 20lbs. They'll bill you for however many lbs they put in.  
 
My point in my original post was when you're filling by Water Capacity instead of volume in a 5 imp gal tank you'll get an extra lb of propane (roughly) so if two places charge the same price for propane but one fills by W.C. and one fills by volume it looks like the place that fills by volume is cheaper when you're actually getting less liquid propane in your tank so that's why you're paying less.  
 
This is assuming both tanks are dry when filled  
 
I wasn't really trying to give advice on where is cheapest more just trying to give a tip on how to figure out where you are getting the best value for money.

Do you know what the prices are at Hertz or MarDee?  
 
I have two propane tanks so that when one runs out, I have a spare. When I go to Wpg, I fill up the empty at Costco.

I think it is around the mid to high 20's. All depends on how empty you are. Nobody will give you propane at costco pricing. Costco is losing money on propane. But they know you probably will need gas, and will spend hundreds in groceries there too.

Used to be $18, I think they are $20 or $22 now, can't remeber for sure. Co-op is definitely a rip-off at $27.

Will bring my tanks into wpg all day with the price of propane their... Filled 2 tanks and cost me 20 bucks amazing considering COOP cost me 26 bucks for 1 lol
