Good idea to do it soon as soon as a cold spell his (if it ever does). Everyone will be getting it done and it will be harder to book anyone.

In my experience, you get what you pay for, and sometimes you get a better job done by a professional and not an amateur. I highly recommend All Seasons Furnace and Duct cleaning. The guy devotes his entire business to this- residential and commercial. He's usually booked up pretty well in advance but there's a reason- He does great work at reasonable rates. 204-573-0056. I think he also has a camera to put into furnaces and duct work to show you before and after cleaning.

i had the furnace cleaned one year by first call. them then a different company came to clean the ducts the next year and said 'you must have had first call clean the furnace because they did too good a job'...  
 
anyhow i think first call charge about 80 to clean the furnace and did gave some discount posted on their website if you mentioned seeing it as a first time customer
