I went to Home Depot with a 1 litre can of paint that I bought there several months earlier. I had used a little of it, very little. When opened you could tell any was out. I asked is they could mix the paint. The young man said that if any has been used they wouldn't mix it. Yet I am sure other locations have done this for me before. I don't feel right going to a paint retailer with a can I didn't there. Has anyone else faced this and is it a common stance by a paint store.

I use too work at another lumber yard and yes if you have used even a little bit they wouldn’t shake it.

Pretty sure it has to do with the balance of the can when mixing.

Is it because its the one liter size? I have many times take 1/2 used cans to Janzen's and to Glidden and they have put the can back on the shaker for me.

That is exactly why I was surprised. I have taken paint back to Janzens and they have mixed it. Yes it is a 1 litre size. However, I did buy this at Home Depot so I didn't feel it was fair to ask Janzens to mix it for me.

I’ve taken cans back to Canadian Tire years later to have it put in the machine and remixed... sad they wouldn’t do that for you.

I will shake it for you....could it be the person you talked to thought you wanted dye mixed into it. instead of shaking it?
