I have had many different people use my garbage can as a dog poop dumping ground an oil dumping ground and a garbage dumping ground.  
To the point where now I have to bring my garbage bin into my garage but I want to know why people would be that disrespectful  
I am wondering who do I call if it happens again/? Its getting on my last nerve.

They could leave the garbage laying around ? As long as it’s not taking up a bunch of space why are you worried ? Most people would rather the owners pick up the dog poo than leave it

On your property as per city bylaws.  
You are not suppose to be leaving it in back lanes 24/7.

First off, there is not a chip in you bin... we once lost our bin because it fell into the truck and they didn't contact us... we had to call them because we happen to have cameras on our house to know this is what happened. Secondly, you mean to tell me that when the garbage truck comes along they know everything that is in your garbage? No... they don't.. they can't tell which battery that was placed in the bin came from which bin, or who's dog poop belongs to who... they dump and go.. I would suggest just placing your bin out on the night before they pick it up or the morning of.

Am I the only one that things it’s baffling that people are concerned our dog poop bags. (All the other stuff ya it’s not good) but poop bags. I’d rather 100 people through there dog poop bags in my bin then 1 person not pickup after there dog and it create a mess for some one else.

They probably didn't pick up sand man's bin because they either saw him dump the sand in as they arrived to pick it up, or he completly filled it with sand and it exceeded the weight limit, they go out, checked the bin, made a note of the sand and moved on. Or a neighbor reported him filling the bin with sand, and if the driver confirmed it they would have refused pick up.

I have OFTEN wondered if people would mind us dropping the bags in their garbages if we are walking our dogs rather than carrying it for an hour. I for one would have NO problem at all

With the op. It’s just disrespectful. Not because it is dog poop or oil and stuff. But because IT ISN’T YOUR BIN!! what is wrong with people!? . I would still a small hole on the lid trim and put a lock on it.

Why does it bother you if someone puts their picked up dog poop in your bin? Would you rather they didn't pick it up at all?

Talk about a first world problem. I can understand being annoyed at oil being dumped in your bin but a small bag of dog poop? Really?  
 
You asked who to call about this. What could you possibly expect anyone to do for you? Perhaps the police could run a sting operation, maybe stake out your bin to catch the non-littering culprits in the act. Maybe the CBC could run an expose as I'm sure there are many others who do not even know they are the victims of 'dumping'.  
 
I would continue to leave the bin out of reach and roll it out the night before your garbage pickup as has already been suggested.

If my dog poops and I bag it I’ll toss it in whatever garbage receptacle I can find. Use mine For dog poop if it’s the closest to you.  
 
Now start putting a large bag of trash in it and we will have words

I have no problem with someone tossing their bagged dog poop Or a disposable cup or something you might be carrying on a walk, in our bin if they happen to be out at the end of our driveway for pick up. What I do have an issue with is someone coming on to my property where I store the bins out of site of the neighbourhood and throwing things in our bin.  
We have had this happen many times and it’s just kind of disturbing to think that there are several public trash receptacles not far from our house, but someone has to come onto our property instead.  
 
As for other items, that is just plain disrespectful. No one is randomly carrying around a battery or oil or big bag of trash on a walk and needs to dispose of it so they don’t have to carry it for the rest of their walk. Use your own bin and respect your neighbours.

When I worked in Brandon, and took my dog for a walk, I would put the poop bag in a garbage bin if it was on the street or at the end of a driveway without even a second thought. It's garbage and I am putting it in a garbage bin. There were a couple of occasions that I walked up a driveway to put it into a garbage bin that was further up a driveway, or in front of a garage. Those occasions were situations like it being very cold and my fingers were cold carrying an extra o:bject, or I ran out of bags and had to use another piece of garbage like a random chip bag or napkin and was afraid of it 'failing' prior to getting home.  
Edited to add - I think the only way to prevent people using your bin, is to put it where it is not accessible.

What you can do but I for one agree with you. I don’t have a dog. I don’t want to deal with dog crap and I don’t want my bins to stink like entitled pet owner’s dog crap. If you can’t carry your stinky little bag back to your own property then don’t have a pet if that’s too much for you. It shouldn’t be my responsibility to clean up anyone else’s crap out of my bin no matter what it is. Just like it shouldn’t be my responsibility to scoop cat crap out of my child’s sandbox because people can’t take proper care and responsibility for their pets. Don’t leave your dog crap on my property in a bag OR on the lawn. Have some common courtesy.

Who actually owns the bins? The property owner? Or the City?

If a bin is empty, putting dog poop in it is kind of crappy. The bag will get crushed by the other garbage throughout the week. In the end, you get smushed dog poop in your bin.  
 
You shouldn’t help yourself to other people’s bins. It’s not good etiquette. The city has lots of public garbage bins you can dispose your dog turds into.  
 
Some people don’t mind, but others do and you have no idea who will mind and who won’t.

I realize you're being sarcastic, but do you know how close we are to this becoming a reality in this silly society we've become? SMH, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I just shake my head. A few posters have made mention of the ownership issue of the bins. I would have to get the 'scoop' but am fairly certain the city owns them. Mind you, if they are back off the street on private property then we would be dealing with the more serious issue of trespassing. Now, does the bag of dog poop become the property of the homeowner, the city, or is it public domain? I think the answer lies in the geographical position of the bin.  
 
I don't have a dog. I stick with cats whose poop is easily disposed of without having to cart it around during my evening stroll. I don't ever need to worry about frozen fingers or trying to find a public trash receptacle in a residential neighbourhood which is not always easy. In fact, thinking about it, I would be hard pressed to locate one in my neighbourhood if I was ever caught 'holding the bag'.

The bins are owned by the city for anyone wondering. Did you all know that dog poop is supposed to be double bagged?

and not once did i ever use two poop bags when walking my dog! For a yard clean up definitely double bagged.  
 
When i was walking 18th street with my dog i couldn't bring myself to drop the bag full into the bins at DQ! Just felt it was wrong to drop at the bins where people are standing outside to get their treats or even the bins at the side where people were sitting enjoying their ice cream.  
Felt a little bit better about using Wendys bin for dog poop bags because no one usually sits out there.  
There was plenty of times the bag got a ride in the trunk home so i could dispose of it in my own garbage bin.  
 
Lots of people don't have pets, some don't like pets so why subject them to what naturally comes out their bottom? Bad enough people let their dogs crap all over neighbour's grass without picking it up.

I will throw my dog bag in another's bin if it's on the street and pick up is the next day. I don't like going on someone's property to do so and will just carry with me until I get home. If it isn't garbage day, I will take it home as I don't want to potentially contaminate someone else garbage with my dog's stench.  
I suppose you could put a sticker on it saying for private use only or continue to just keep it in your garage.

I don’t monitor my garbage bin and don’t care if someone puts garbage in my garbage bin. I hate when I see people not pick up their dog’s poop or litter. So if you gotta toss it in my bin.....please do people. That’s what it is there for. I never look what’s in my bin. Just open and toss my garbage in. Once in awhile give it a rinse. I can see people not want mind people in their property/back yard. But I’d your bins are hanging out out in the alley or curb side.....who cares? It’s garbage people!
