Choosing exterior paint colors?
4/4/2009 at 10:59 AM
I need help choosing exterior paint colors. There are just too many possibilities to choose from.
I have a 1950's bungalow. It looks like any other Brandon bungalow. Very plain No architectural detail whatsoever. Just a box basically. Right now, the main part of the house is a sort of cream/pale yellow color of vinyl siding. It has to stay the same because I can't afford to change it right now. The area where my picture window sticks out from the front of the house. It is currently a diarrhea brown and we don't know what the heck the previous homeowner used to paint it but when it starts melting outside, so does my house. Brown paint is running down the siding. The gables are also the same color. I am only painting around the picture window and the gables for now.
I have driven around and looked at other people's homes and scoured the net but I still don't know what color to choose. All the houses on my street are brown. My home is the smallest, plainest home so I'd like to give it some punch.
Anyone know a good site where I can get ideas?
We are adding window boxes under the three front windows, building up the flowerbeds, and adding shutters so I guess we are leaning towards a cottage style home and need to choose colors accordingly.
I am at a loss and need to give the painter a color.
