I am pricing out cabinets. It seems IKEA will save me around $3,000 from any other quote. Has anyone used IKEA? Is it worth it or are they a pain to work with/put their cabinets together? Any info helps. thanks

IKEA kitchen. I love my kitchen. We did a total re-do of our kitchen a year ago. We have a very big kitchen so we need to save some money somewhere and IKEA was the way to go for us. I'm not gonna lie the assembly was a pain! We had 197 boxes to haul home. We were missing a couple of things once we got home but we were very impressed that IKEA was willing to ship them to our house. Over all the IKEA experience was very positive. The only negative comment we have is the planner stage. We spent 7 hours in their kitchen department during the planning stage and we already had a drawing in mind when we went. You save money because YOU are the labour. With most projects it's the labour that costs you. If you are willing to put the boxes together and assemble the kitchen you will be happy with your kitchen I think. My kitchen would have cost 20 grand. By doing the cabinets myself it cost 10 000. That's a huge savings for IMO a very nice kitchen.

We priced out IKEA and would have had to pay a cabinet maker to put them together. So, we went to Creative Kitchens, out of Killarney. Cost a bit more but they do an awesome, no fuss or mess job. They were able to fit all those little corners with space saving things and had some great ideas. Love my kitchen!

I have heard great things about creative kitchens but my favourite to deal with is Kevin's Woodworking from north of Neepawa off highway 5. We have had him do two rooms in our house and could not possibly be happier. We now have timeless cupboards that will never go out of style and are real maple with beautiful drawer pulls etc. To save money he will tell you what to do. For us it saved us to rip out all cupboards ourselves and do all the plumbing hookups on our own which saved him a lot of time and wasn't too difficult for us to do. He will work with your budget and you will not be disappointed!

We're building a new house and also looking for recommendations for cabinets and also custom built in work.

i didnt do an ikea kitchen because i wanted all wood cabinets not particle board but i did do RTAs i got online. they were not hard at all, i am a handy girl tho so install wasnt an issue, assemble boxes, screw sections together,pin nail on crown molding, lift and screw into wall, really that easy lol i also modified a couple of the cabinets to get what i wanted but instead of paying 20k for a solid wood kitchen i paid 3k and it took me a weekend to assemble and install

we are also doing a full kitchen reno, and the staff at Kitchen Gallery have been so helpful, they really got the essence of what we wanted to do with the space, and budget that we have. They have a wonderful interior designer (Ang) that has helped us pick out the colors for the cabinets, backsplash, countertop etc. I cant' wait to get things going!

Call Kevin from Kevin's woodworking! Ours was a custom install with limited space and everything slid in perfectly. I don't know how he did it! It's amazing. He's a Mennonite and does it all by hand. The quality is incredible. I can't say enough good things!

we just installed a large kitchen using kitchen craft maple cupboards. approx 20 feet of cupboards plus a large island. You can order Kitchen Craft thru McMunn but we belong to direct buy and saved tons... total was approx. $13000 and we have a large kitchen. Yes you need to purchase a membership BUT if you are doing all of your kitchen it would pay for itself and then some. They have kitchen designers as well.

building a new house and priced cabinets all over. Hands down you need to go to NuTrend Kitchens in Brandon and see Joyce.  
She was absolutely great to work with. Ordered our sinks and taps as well as counter tops there.  
The guys came out and did the install and all went really well! It was so worth it not to have to worry about measurments and things fitting right.

We used them they would good and the price came in under budget. No slam doors and under cabinet lighting are just some of the standard equip. They offer.  

We've had IKEA cabinets in our kitchen for several years, they where as easy to put together as any of their other furniture. When it came time to renovate our kitchen it was as simply as adding more cabinets and changing the doors and draw fronts.  
At this point if the need arises again we will us IKEA again.
