Besides McDonalds, what other places could/would a 15 year-old be able to work with parental consent?

The kids play place on park, Pizza Hut, any burger joint ( don’t knock it aw pays well) any restaurant may hire for kitchen help. Mostly small or private businesses as they control their hiring ways not a Corp headquarters or head office ..good luck

Think entry level work: dishwasher, bus person in a restaurant, subway, any fast food restaurant, flyer delivery, dairy queen.  
 
Or self-made work like shovelling driveways, mowing lawns, poo picking for dog owners, odd jobs.  
 
KEYS has an odd job squad that they could look at.

Value Village and Giant Tiger. Both my kids started at 15 at both stores

I worked there (many many years ago). It was a great experience. I made several new friends that have still lasted all these years. It taught me a lot as well - A time to lean is a time to clean ! Ha ha  
 
Also what about places like Home Depot, home hardware, Princess Auto, movie theatre?

"The kids play place on park" does not hire 15 year olds. My daughter tried last year, and was told no.  
 
One other thing to note. If they have to work alone, they are not eligible.  
 
Ice cream places should be good (but may be fully staffed by now).

15 year olds should be doing odd jobs not taking jobs away from people that are trying to pay bills even if it is minimum wage. They should be concentrating on school and enjoying thier teenage years not the stress of keeping a job.

My first job at 15 was in a grocery store bagging groceries. There are also lots of teenagers working at DQ or other small food places. It’s a great way to save up to buy their first vehicle or put towards college!

If a 15 year old wants to gain some financial independence, build up their resume, gain valuable experience, and save up for college/university, should they not be given that opportunity?  
 
The argument that they're "taking jobs away from people that are trying to pay bills" is quite an assumption. Some teenagers have to work to contribute to their household, help pay bills, etc.. This teen may just be working during the Summer months anyways...

They could be a server at Victoria Landing, Rotary Villas, Riverheights Terrace.

Think fast food, slow food retail, grocery stores. Think shoppers mall, town center (if you don't want to get spotted by your friends xD). Even some more speciallized places may take a chanceopportunity on a youth trainee, like a bike shop for instance. If you have an interest and are serious about it, its worth a shot. A conversation with a hiring manager could point you in the right direction, to obtaining the type of work you seek in the future. Ignore Slo Mo, that type of attitude is designed to keep you down, working minimum wage into your 40's. The barrier you need to cross is the mindstate that youth employees are unreliable, and lack motivation. You need to be available most evenings andor weekends, and not calling in sick all the time. Oh and make sure you have room in your life, for another commitment, after all your homework, extra activities, friends,etc.

Even if they're saving money for the sole purpose of being able to go to movies and fast food or blow on ridiculous things... it's money they're earning and there's a good lesson and work ethic that is learned early! To think that a 15 year old is taking a job from someone who needs to feed a family is quite a stretch... I think anyone who wants to work, should. It's a great way to establish some independence! You work, you get paid. I highly doubt that a 15 year old with zero work experience is stealing a job from a 40 year old woman with 5 kids, unless she's got some big blemishes on her work record!

Was thinking the same. If a 15yr old is coming in more qualified than an adult there must be some blemishes on the work history of adult and/or serious lack of work history. Every person deserves the opportunity for employment regardless what their monetary goals are.
