Flying with an infant

Hello, I am going to be flying to Alberta with my 3 month old, and was just wondering if anyone knows any tricks to make the trip a pleasent experience for him. I have sensetive ears and I am often in alot of pain when landing so therefor I am worried that this might be the case for him too. (I have heard of people nursing/giving them a bottle/soother but which is best?) ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
