It is coming close to my child's first birthday and am wondering what the norm is for this age group? There would be anywhere from 3-6 children roughly the same age plus a couple a bit older. I don't want to spend a fortune to host the party outside my home, but am open to potentially renting a room somewhere. My current house is not nearly large enough to hold the party, so looking for ideas that people have done!

For my son's 1st birthday we did a house party, and never again. Way too crowded and there was only about 15 people/kids total. So for my son's second birthday we rented a hall. It was $45 for 3 hours + 1 free hour to set up. It was great, I could cook, have access to tables, chairs, etc plus lots of room for the little ones to run around, just gave them some balloons and an empty space and away they went! I will be doing it again for his 3rd.

go super simple this is all about parents because a 1 year old will not remember a thing, you present a cake, muffin, or piece of bread the child will not know the difference.  
I simply put a small cake with 1 candle lite and took a picture while my child is staring at it and try to grab it then let grab the cake with fingers and make a mess on their face. Was just as fun and cute to watch and was pretty much

Which hall did you rent for the day?

West end community centre.

It was between West End & East End because they both had similar hourly rates. I called almost every one in Brandon and most charged a deposit, and/or $100 for the day. I was very pleased with West End but just a heads up they all book fast for weekend spots. West end was one of the only ones that had an opening and that was 3 months in advance

If it is soon have it at a splash park or a park.  
 
Parents and kids can play together.  
 
Decorate a picnic table, lots of finger food, and cupcakes, juice boxes.  
 
cheep and easy.  
Bring beach towels for the little one to sit on.

I wish it was soon! But it's October, so splash parks aren't an option, unfortunately.

Planning a very similar party!! Looking forward to reading some ideas. Pinterest has been helpful for me!!
