I need maybe half a dozen high chairs for a wedding where lots of kids are coming. Wondering where to find some restaurant style high chairs that parents can use if they need.

Where is the wedding? A lot of venue's will already have high chairs, but probably not a large amount of them. If you are hosting yourself, and have a rental company providing tables, chairs, etc., then I would suggest speaking to them to see if they provide high chairs, or know of somewhere that might.  
 
As a parent, I have just learned to never assume that there will be seating available for a child who needs a high chair at these types of events. We have a portable booster seat that we bring with us. Most parent's generally will have some kind of arrangements of their own for these types of things, just because you can never be sure of accommodations.

you can't. how about buying them through the classified and reselling after?

That is very thoughtful of you but I never in a million years would expect this. We had portable kid seats that we carried with us and would just use that. Or a car seat if they were really little, or just hold them on your lap.  
 
If you really want a few maybe just borrow or "rent" from a few friends?

Nice gesture for your guests but I wouldn't expect it. I sit my daughter down on my lap or bring a small portable seat for her that can sit either on a chair or attach to the table.

That is very thoughtful of you! There is no way I can eat a meal and enjoy a wedding reception with my 1.5 year old on my lap! We usually bring our own booster seat that straps to a regular chair. I'm sure you could just ask parents to bring a portable seat for their little ones, or borrow some for out-of-town guests.
