My son had it done last year. It was done first thing in the morning and we were on our way home around 10:00 am. Have a bucket in the car, my son threw up blood in the hospital while walking out and once in the car. The rest of the day he spent sleeping or laying on the couch. He ate lots of Popsicles and juice, the only solids he had were yogurt and applesauce the first day. It was recommended to take a couple days at home, his surgery was done on a Thursday so we were back to daycare/work Monday. By the next day he was much better. I don't think he as supposed to swim for abit (which wasn't an issue anyway s) but he also had his eardrums cut to drain fluid.
Wasn't a bad recovery, easier than if they also get their tonsils out.
