motorcycle noise level issue
6/25/2010 at 9:48 AM
I have been a rider for over 40yrs and I have experienced the 'loud pipes save lives" myself , FROM a motorist prespective . In Wpg, one day, I HEARD a bike in my blind spot , and the sound was the ONLY way that I knew he was there.
BUT If we riders are to be singled out as the main source of noise pollution , then I wish to COUNTER with this: I HOPE that the sound police ALSO attack those with the BOOM BOOM stereos which play ABOVE the 96db range and rattle MY windows . It is not only an irritation to MY ears , but these high power stereos , playing at high levels are a HUGE safety issue . There is NO way that anyone in that vehicle could hear a siren, or a horn or any other type of warning for that matter. Not withstanding the fact that usually there are loose parts vibrating off the car, this is even more annoying than a bike with aftermarket pipes!!!! All we need to do is NOT give them a reason to stop us , idle around town , crank it on the highway , I guess?
just my 2cents!
