In your opinion which music app is better? I'm not sure which one to pay the monthly price for

I use both but I don't pay for either. I don't need the download to listen offline feature and am not concerned about commercials. But I personally feel Spotify is easier to use for searching a specific song.

I pay for premium Spotify and i wont use anything else.  
 
It has a nice layout and the app is easy to use. Google play music looks old and outdated, the layout of playlists and artists isnt intuitive.  
 
Spotify is available on almost every device, google play music is almost as widely available though.  
 
Spotify lets you download up to 3,333 songs onto up to 3 devices for playback when cell signal isn't good or no wifi. So anywhere rural in MB this comes in handy if you want your choice of music. Not sure if play music lets you do this or not.  
 
Spotify seems to be easier to create and modify playlists than play music and i've found Spotify to have a wider selection of lesser known artists. Find something on YouTube? Spotify probably has it, sometimes play music does but most times not.  
 
I can't speak for the free version but the premium Spotify is worth it for me. Tried Apple Music but still prefer Spotify.
