About 2 weeks ago we went to Walmart and being that it was a super busy time of year we parked as far away as we could to avoid the congested parking area. Was only in the store for about 1/2 hour and then left. When we got back to the truck someone had smashed the passenger side mirror off the truck. There were no vehicles parked close enough to it to it have been a hit and run though. My son told me that some people think it’s cool to randomly select a vehicle and kick or hit the mirror until it’s broken or falls off. Ticks me off because the way MPI works now I’m probably gonna lose a couple of merits to get it fixed as they’ll try and say it was 50/50 in a parking lot. Anyone else had this happen??

Happened to a co-worker of mine last winter in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Both of his mirrors on his truck were busted off and he filled a police report and it was treated as a vandalism case, instead of an accident by MPI.

Maybe Wesman Salvage has one on hand.

Get a price quote for replacing the mirror. If its under $500, you probably be better off just biting it then use your deductible. Depending how much old and condition your truck is, getting one from Wesman Salvage can be an idea. If you filed a police report, let's hope they can catch the buggers!

Had someone rough up my front end and just peel off. Someone saw and left me a nice note. Sadly store was not willing to let me see if there was any camera footage. Its a real shame we live in a place where some people dont have the integrity to own up for their actions!

This is only if you have a $100 or $200 deductible.

You wont lose merits if it was either vandalism or hit and run. You will have to pay the deductible unless maybe Walmart has a camera outside or someone witnessed the incident. And maybe the deductible wont apply for the vandalism, but it will be in the discretion of the mpi estimator.

They may or may not have one, and it may or may not be in the computer.  
 
I hope there's a heated shop involved.
