Was talking to a local acreage owner that just moved in last summer who is having trouble locating a septic field on their property. They didn't seem to have any luck finding any info from the province based on whatever info she gave them. Any idea if there are any businesses that have a way to locate? From what I remember from what I had seen of their property last year, there weren't any green spots that specifically indicated field lines. I suggested looking at asking local septic businesses, but wasn't sure who they could go to. Any suggestions?

was she talking to, the local office down at the Queens building? conservation dept?? If it was a legit septic field installed they should have a record as they have to be registered..... Now if it was uncle bob that put it in years ago....another story.  
 
also is she sure it is a septic field and not an ejector system.. lots of folks are unfamiliar with ejector systems and if this is her first time on an acreage may not be aware. The ejector is sometimes hard to find, if there is bush handy on the land they are sometimes just tucked away in an inconspicuous place. or even just a trickler that is placed on a slope and just comes out of the ground.  
 
if it is over 10 acres, most likley it is an ejector, but not always the case. if it is under 10 acres the province banned ejectors a few years ago. and so if they find out she may have to upgrade to a field.

But I assumed she spoke to the conservation board. I won't see them now until next week,but will ask them on my way home from work sometime. Thanks for the tips.

She wouldn't have to change it if she's not moving it. We have an ejector and as long as we aren't planning on moving it we don't have to do anything. Any new septic system has to be a septic field.

How old is the house on the property. Could be just a line going to an old car buried in the ground. Just saying. Do they have a effluent pump. If so you can follow the line from the pump out. If it gravity feed you could dig down a few feet and follow the pipe coming out of the septic tank.
