I work fulltime and only get a pay stub at the beginning of each year. Is this normal? Shouldn't I get corresponding paystub with each paycheck?

That doesn't sound right. I get my paystub at each paycheck.

Your employer has to provide a paystub for each pay period. Really how do you know if they screwed up during a pay period.

However the last place I worked said that it was emailed and it never was. Same with my coworker, just lazy on their part.

You should have it every payday.

There is online access somewhere. My work never handed out pay stubs. Just sent them in email before and now we have a website we can go to view or print off if needed.

Try working some where, where you don’t get paystubs at all unless requested or being told because of the line of work you do, you should know how to calculate your own paystubs.

I don’t even touch payroll at my work yet I was told if I wanted paystubs I should know how to make my own.

Regardless of whether you are paid hourly or salary you should still get a paystub every payroll. I’m paid the same every payroll so I never look at mine, but I still get one! If you’re hourly, you would need to check it every single time you are paid to ensure that you were paid properly! That’s ridiculous. It boggles my mind that some employers still do not follow labour laws.

My husband gets the same wages and has the same deductions for every single paycheque, so he doesn't get them every time -that would be redundant and a waste of paper. He gets one at the beginning of each year, when he gets a raise and info changes, or when he requests it. Nothing wrong with that. If the numbers don't change, there is no point to receiving a pay stub each time.

There’s so much more info than just your pay on your stub though. I’m salary so it’s the same amount every 2 weeks (save for the odd meal allowance in our busy season) but there’s so much more that I want to know that just pay. Our vacation time accrual is on there, and I like to keep an eye on CPP and EI so I have an idea when I will max out.
