At what point does it become unsafe to sled on the Assiniboine. Just wondering with the warmer temps we have had.

I'd never sled on the the river

I didn't grow up in Brandon so I've never been on the river ice but I know at the lake you never went on the sloughs or parts of the lake where you knew the springs ran, the ice never really freezes properly over running water...I see sled tracks on the river all the time but that would scare the hell out of me.

and enjoy yourself. The water is shallow right now. If you see water, just go around it. I have been riding on the river for years with friends and have never had a problem. Unload at Dinsdale Park and head west. There is construction at the Grand Valley bridge right now, so that is as far as you can go to the west.
