If they are running completely across the river they may be there to stop boaters from going over the rock weir further down the river.

Is the water ski club still down there they used to have a slalom course marked out with buoys in that area but that's was a while ago maybe they are marking obstructions for boaters.just guesses.

Without phoning the city and asking I would also guess this is probably correct.  
 
Based on the location of the buoys the city probably doesn't want any body in a kayak/canoe/sup/jetski/whatever to go over the Weir.

The buoys in front of Dinsdale Park are used as a ski course for the Brandon the Water Ski Club. The slalom course along with the docks are installed by the club members every year. I'm glad I could help answer your question Donnel.

That was me and cousins, we set a gill net right across the river. We caught lots of walleye boy it was ever so good

I would eat fish out of the Assiniboine River. Have you seen that water?

I wouldn’t eat out of the river not sure what contaminates are in it first time fishing cast and caught a jawbone second cast not as great lmao. I am looking for massive sturgeon and green backs but all I get is infested with ticks.

I don’t location is as much of an issue as technique for the sturgeon. Greenbacks not to sure of.

And no i didnt set a net there i was only trying to get a rise out of a bunch of people but failed. Lol and i agree i would not eat anything out of there. I get all my fish from northern mb. Little place called cormorant lake

There is none for sturgeon! Lay some rotten bait on the bottom and wait. Jumbo tiger shrimp work good.

You didn't get a reaction for trolling as it is forbidden on this site. Do you have a link for the greenback full of pollution to get its color? Everywhere I read is due to the limestone from Lake Winnipeg. I don't know why people would think it isn't alright to eat the fish. It is only a dark color due to the silt in the water. No different back home in the Athabasca river it was white from the glacial silt.

Has anyone done a chem test in the water to verify as the Assiniboine runs through three cities that I know of and the runoff from fields is another as per greenback comment I always call walleyes greenbacks no matter where they are caught from reindeer lake south on Manitoba.

I call a walleye a walleye. Greenback I save that for the emerald color walleye in the Red River basin. What do you call a blue walleye if you ever caught one? Greenbacks?

Never heard or caught a blue walleye so wouldn’t know what to call them

All lakes and rivers have some levels of pollution. Never said that Lake Winnipeg is not polluted. The walleye don't get their emerald green from the pollution is what I am saying. Comorant Lake has Mercury consumption guidelines just like any other lake.

Fishing Guy is correct as to the cause of the green colour of the walleye.

Where did you see this information. Why would there be mercury in the water

These fish have been extinct since 1983. People still catch them though in Ontario. The great lakes is a more popular area for finding them.

We catch them all the time in the winter months. There are two small lakes that we travel to on the sleds that still hold these fish.

Not saying they are but they have been declared extinct since '83. Fish are still being caught but not in numbers like a normal fish.

Would you like to clarify what you are referring to? Do I believe they are extint? No. There have been fish caught to prove otherwise. I was just going by the Government of Canada list of species. Don't know where Google comes into this but I am sure you can clear that for me since I seem to be so entertaining.
