Bike Thefts

The bike thefts are pretty bad and pretty strategic. They look mainly for mountain bikes with front or dual suspension. I have had two mountain bikes stolen in 6 weeks at the same location.
Lesson learned. Don't lock bikes to railing with cable locks, even 3/4" aircraft cable is not sufficient.
The only lock I would place trust in is a Kryptonite chain lock that is locked through the rear wheel and a stationary metal railing that is closed.
It is likely that there is a very selective and coordinated effort with good tools. Probably two man crew with truck and battery powered saw.
It is likely that few bikes are safe: that keeping them indoors is best.
