Was driving on 10 north just past the airport around 5:15 this afternoon when I heard a tremendous bang/boom sound overhead.I had thought my vehicle had been struck by something from a oncoming traffic and that it hit the roof of my truck.I pulled over to check and notice a couple more vehicles up ahead were doing the same.Chatted with one of them and they thought their tire had exploded.But everything was ok with them also.A truck pulling a trailer had pulled over also..then drove off.  
 
There was a clear sky overhead with some clouds to the east so maybe it was airort related..and I don't know if there's sonic booms anymore..so am just really curious if anyone heard it.

I also heard it and I am 5 minutes north of Brookdale and about 15 minutes south of Neepawa.  
I thought it was an explosion. Very loud.

Marybe it was a sonic boom from low flying jet. I know they are not supposed to fly a low altitude.

That is quite the distance...it will be interesting to find out what it was..

I heard it/felt it in Meadows. Weird.

I was driving that highway (maybe a bit north of the airport) too at that time, and although I didn't hear a boom, I saw what looked like a very bright lightning bolt shoot right down in front of the car in front of me. Clear skies, so very odd. Freaked me out a bit, but all seemed okay. I thought maybe it was just my imagination, but then I read this thread and wondered if they could be connected.

Maybe is was a UFO?

There is a cloud to the west right now that looks like it could be shielding a UFO.

I live off #10 and we heard two loud booms but assumed it was thunder. Sounded like it came from towards Brandon (I’m 15km north). It was odd cause the skies were clear but trees shielded our view of the south.

Could it of been coming from Shilo? I heard they were doing training out on the range today. But that’s odd to hear it that far away.

Yes it was two loud booms. I was sitting in my office with the window open so I heard it loud and clear. From where I am, north of Brookdale, it sounded like it came from the north east.  
It was quite scary.

I live at Shilo and there were no boom noises out here last night. There was wicked wicked lightning in a cloud to the northeast but that was at 6:15 or 6:30 And I heard no thunder from it so it must have been very far away

That makes it sound like maybe it was a meteor. As they enter the atmosphere, they do so at crazy high speeds and can produce sonic booms. One in Russia in 2013 shattered windows.  
That one entered the atmosphere at 69,000 km/hr.  
It would only last a second or two and it would probably explode in an air burst but that could definitely account for the flashes of light and the noise if it was in fact clear at the time.

storms in the Brandon area at the time. It's also possible for lightning to strike far from a storm. That would be the reason many outdoor events wait 30 min after the last lightning/thunder before resuming.
