Hello! Where can I go to find CHEAP items to host a ,little girls birthday party? My reason for asking is because I have a friend with 2 small girls ages 3 and 5 years old. She recently left an abusive relationship and is starting fresh just her and her 2 girls. She thought she had removed him from her bank account and today when she went to pay for her daughter's gift as well as for the party supplies, she found her debit card came back NSF....and she couldn't figure out why because she just got paid the day before! She went to the bank to discover that her ex still has access to the account because HE didn't sign off on the account when she requested his name be taken off, she assumed it was removed. Anyway he CLEANED HER OUT as well as exceeded her overdraft limit too boot! I, myself am on a VERY LOW INCOME and I can't really help with a whole lot....but if there is somewhere cheap I could find some girl party stuff (she is turning 6 years old) I want to help try to give this little girl (who deserves to have a party, she didn't ask for a dad who steals)! I'm going to bake her a cake....that's something I do well and so I'm gonna do an awesome BARBIE CAKE for her! My friend wanted to just cancel the party but I said "NO! You CANT cancel her party!" So if someone could tell me of any ideas that would be SOOO great! I am also going to help with some school supplies as this guy literally took every cent she had, and she's not sure where to go for help...she's going into grade 1 this fall! Thank you for any ideas or suggestions in advance!

Dollar store will be your friend. Small items will do just fine for that age. Playing with her friends will be the best gift. Cheap games like pin the tail can be done, twister, skipping contests, cheap nail polish and they can do their nails. Curling iron, do a cheap makeover for the girls.  
 
For school items talk with the school and see what is available. That is what Tools for Schools is all about, helping those that are in need. Lots is donated to help others.

For sure the dollar stores. They have tons of stuff.  
 
Out of curiosity, when is the party scheduled to be?

I will for sure be checking these places out! I'm not yet sure when the party is scheduled, I've asked my friend to give me a small list of w y kids are attending as well as when the party will be held. I have told her I can't really afford much, so just like or kiddies would be best, and easier to look after! And I'm not going out to buy any items until closer to the date, and that way I can make sure the cake is made the night before so it doesn't spoil!

The Dollar Tree has a great collection of party stuff!

Please people don’t fall for another scam.

Lesson learned - just start a new bank account as the sole account holder. I had lots of clients something similar happened to.  
 
School - yep, have her try Tools for Schools. They should be able to hook her up.  
 
Party - Home made parties are the best. A cake, some punch, some creative games, some home made decorations, some friends - you can do it for under $20.

bring the cake to a splash park and have the party there. Bubble wands are only $0.25 at superstore they could be the "goody bag" item, or just don't have one!

Dollar tree. Hands down the best dollar store we have. Can get all the party stuff there for super cheap.  
 
If she's in a bind for money assistance has a emergency fund she can access without being on assistance. Also the food bank mat have some stuff to help her out.

Thank you for all the wonderful ideas! I used some of them and she had a wonderful Disney princess theme party complete with piniata! I am amazed tho, on the nasty private messages that I received from certain people who I won't bother to name cause you know who you are. I just wanted to let those of you know that I in NO way asked for monetary help! And declined an offer from a person who was rather rude in the end. And to those of you who think I was asking for money and sending private messages to people saying I am so e kind of thief or scammer you have me confused with someone else and I DONT appreciate whoever you are messaging people about me. I will also be bringing this to Adams attention because I have had enough. But to those of you who told me some wonderful places to look that I would have never thought to look, you all helped make her party happen and for that I thank you. I didn't have the money for it, but I did some odd jobs to earn extra money to help my friend and if that's considered scamming then I must think about moving from this town cause I don't want to live in a town where people gossip about other people they dont even know while hiding behind screen names! Pretty sad, i thought we were adults, not simple minded high school kids. LOL!

That’s so awesome she had a great birthday! I’ll admit when I read this originally I thought “here’s another story of somebody hoping people step up and pay for a birthday party”. The reason I thought that was the capitals in the original post and the need to explain the story to gain sympathy. The question could have been asked “where do you go to get cheap birthday supplies?” And that would have covered what you were actually searching for.  
Obviously I don’t know all of the details and it’s truly none of my business. I’m really very happy she had a great birthday and you are an amazing friend for helping out! I was just shedding light on why you may have gotten undesirable responses.  
Also this was very helpful for myself who is shopping for a birthday party to know to go to dollar tree!

I'm glad she had a good birthday in the end. And I'm sorry some people gave you the gears, that's wonderful you were able to earn the extra money to help out your friend.
