I managed to forget to lock doors on my SUV last night and had someone go through it. This was in the Riverheights Area. Anyone else have someone go through your vehicle in the area last night?

Do you know what time of night this was, might be good to know when these thieves are out so people can keep an eye out if they are up.

This was just after midnight.

Sucks that these scum bags have nothing better to do. I do have a question about your camera tho if you dont mind answering here or via pm. I'm looking for one for my home but always find the black and white images near impossible to make out a face. If you happen to have outdoor lights on in the vicinity of camera will it record in color?

Yeah it would record in color if there was enough light. I am seriously going to look into getting a motion light as well. That likely would help to deter these types of people who have nothing better to do.

had 2 bikes stolen tuesday night valleyview area

the one time in our village people (can't say they were kids for sure) went through a number of cars,  
 
the ones locked had their side windows broke. ones unlocked were just gone through no damage.  
 
we keep nothing in our car nothing much anyway.  
 
they just spread our papers in there (no important stuff) and didn't even take my few CD's. Guess they didn't like our music. No country fans in that group!

Make sure your vehicle registration is still there. I had my vehicle rummaged through a few months ago and that's all they took. Nice way to get a hefty ticket.

You might want to look into getting one of these or something similar. Hold down Leftclick over link...right click to "open in new page" there is a video to watch on how these type of things work..very simple.  
 
If you don't have a drive way in back lane but have only a wood fence dividing properties. One very good deterrent for fence hoppers is to nail down on top of fence line are those carpet tack strips ya know with those extremely sharp tack pointing up to grab carpet and hold in place...ouch that would leave a mark.

They were up at Monterey Estates about 5:00 am this morning. Not sure if the video camera recorded their plate number or not. Guess we need more cameras with lights.

don't say that it doesn't matter if you lock your vehicle! It does! Yes if you do leave something of value in your car these creeps will smash the window to get in and take your goods! Why make it easy for someone to rifle thru your car?  
 
Had a neighbour that didn't lock their door and had their purse taken and tossed aside. Most thieves don't want to make noise by breaking windows because then people look outside.

We woke up around 3:30am and found 2 people going through our vehicles in the driveway. My husband yelled out the bedroom window and scared them off. All they got was a bit of change but I wish I had remembered to lock the car doors.

They tried again last night at 2:30am.

Worst thing that I can see happening is these kids are going to get caught by the wrong guy at 1am breaking into their vehicle.

(Try not to see you soffit in the camera)

YES, a motion light would also help.  
 
I assume your resolution is set to highest quality? (also found in your settings)

Are police aware of all this activity in Riverheights area? Maybe increase patrol, catch the little punks!

Thanks Dale. I will give your suggestions a try. My video quality was set at medium so I bumped it up to the highest. Also will lower the angle of my camera too

I haven’t reported yet but after the same kids out in only a few days apart around the same time I will be making a call to the police and maybe next time these kids will be caught.

Even if you think it's a petty or an attempted theft or crime, please ALWAYS report these incidents.  
 
When you report these petty low life thieves, it means that BPS has a record and may bump up patrols in your area, not to mention they likely keep record of crime stats in various areas.  
 
I hope they catch these lowlifes. Please report the attempt so they can monitor the area.

Everytime we forgot to lock our doors in Brandon at night our cars had been gone through. We left the Brandon area a couple years back as we really didn't feel safe at night. on top of everything else that happened our 2013 sierra was stolen at 1030am one Thursday morning that was our last straw. We moved out of Brandon a couple months later and never looked back.

The Police should set up some bait bikes & bags with tracking devices and get catch these lowlifes. Other police forces have used bait bikes to catch these thieves.

Our police know exactly who is going through cars. Don’t kid yourself.  
 
They are minors and get nothing for jail time. Police hands are tied!!
