Trying not to be a negative Nellie but can Brandon not get one or two road project finished before starting another? I have 2 different detour areas between my home and work, now a 3rd? Perhaps since I am here already someone can tell me what is happening on the block or 2 of 26th that is taking so long to get done?

our street has been torn up for a week, this was to be a 2 day project according to the notice sent out from the City. One day to tear it up, and they haven't been back since...

There is SO much happening behind the scenes that we don't know about. I don't think it's fair to say that it is taking  
"so long". Until we are in it ourselves and truly understand the ins and outs of the work that is happening and any potential speeds bumps that are coming their way. Kudos to the workers out there putting in the hours!  

So much happening that is beyond our knowledge. Speaking from someone who used to work in the field there are a lot of areas that need to be juggled with these contractors and locations they need to be.  
The city may have put out a notice however the city is not doing the work. It's the contractor that does. The city is making an estimated guess.  
It's certainly an inconvenience however with the amount of work happening in the city and repairs in general I am just happy there is work, repairs are being made etc. This means that the road is getting fixed and will be finished vs nothing done at all. This is a good thing!

Nice when it’s done but my gosh, it was a 25 minute trip from 1st street to 26th street today. Maybe if they started earlier in the summer??

Next time you drive by said construction, look at the crews and vehicles on the site. Look carefully at the company logos on the side of the equipment, then tell me if all the equipment has a "City of Brandon" logo on them. I'm guessing your beef is actually with a road construction company, and not the COB.

I am truly just annoyed that it seems like all these jobs take so long and there is so many happening at the same time. Perhaps it is the nature of the Industry as some say but it is tough to believe it could not go smoother and faster. Having many contractors to coordinate would certainly have an effect on things.

Does 1st Street, Richmond Ave., Victoria Avenue, 18th Street fall under the Provincial Highways?

I feel you Donna! I have no beef with the construction itself, as I know it's a necessary evil in an ever expanding city who needs to do upgrades to keep everything in good repair.  
 
However, I feel like we could benefit from a project manager who knows what the heck they're doing! All the projects seem to have popped up later in the summer, and having construction on almost every main road in the city is a headache, to say the least.  
 
I leave earlier and try to put a smile on my face, but I can't help but wonder if they City of Brandon is going to reimburse me for all the extra gas I burn going to work. ;)  
 
As others have said, things happen, and it is better to do the job right and take a bit longer, than to rush it and have to go back next year.  
 
That being said, I really really want to be able to get home without going 20+ blocks around/out of my way.

The street I live on is beyond horrible. I see every other street around me getting fixed all these years of living here but mine. Least you’ll have a nice fresh road to drive on lol and not gravel.

I believe that much of Victoria belongs to the province, 1st Street north of Victoria, and 18th up to Richmond Avenue. I'm not sure if any of Richmond Avenue belongs to the province, it doesn't really connect to a hi-way.

Between park and willowdale was set to be done this passed Friday. Yesterday they were ripping up the northbound lanes. Awesome. Also, Richmond was supposed to be done Friday as well and still isn't. Maybe by this Friday? I can't wait to have my usual route to work back!!
