I have a small rant and notice to whoever may care. My garbage had not been picked up for the last two weeks so I thought I would call the sanitation department and find out whats going on. When I spoke the the gentlemen from the City he told me that they had not picked up my garbage because it has "contruction garbage" in it, I clarified that its the sand and gravel from my lawn that the City pushed up in the snow piles during winter time, he told me they will refuse to pickup my residential garbage if the sand/gravel from my lawn is in it. They told me that I MUST put the sand and gravel in my green bin for them to pickup starting next week. This caught me off guard because I don't know who wants upwards of 1" stones in their compost?? now I have to transfer this sand and gravel from my garbage bin to the green bin, might just be easier to dump it in the middle of the street a block down and let the City deal with it..... FYI its not over weight either, its only about 1/4 full and I can easily move it up and down my driveway with one hand. How much of a pain in the ass can the City be?they really want stones in their compost that bad?? Rant over... enjoy picking my stones out of your compost next yr.

How could they even tell you had that stuff in your bin?? They're in a truck operating the pickup device!

Why not spread the sand and gravel around your driveway or backlane, provided you have either I suppose.  
 
I'm not sure why the city would suggest putting gravel into the compost, you would think it might cause extra wear and tear on the shredders they use to mulch it up, but maybe it just settles to the bottom of the pile anyways

The recycling truck didn’t do our back lane at all Wednesday. None of us on my block had recycling picked up

I thought green bin collection started this week.
