I just heard that Westman Journal have closed up shop in Brandon. It was a another good competitor to the daily here.

Would surprise me. I honestly don't think I read the Journal. If it came with the flyers it went straight into the recycling.

I used to read it avidly (even sent in letters occasionally), but it fell by the wayside when the switch to the orange boxes happened. It's only recently that I started receiving it in the mail again.

It's an unfortunate loss. But not really a surprise, either. Whilst the boxes saved on delivery cost, I suspect it crippled the advertising opportunities.

Yes, the westman journal has ceased operations. The reason was not enough advertising revenue. Also, the journal blames Facebook and other social media websites for taking away advertising dollars. The journal website would like us to keep our media outlets local instead of using multi national and us companies.

Not much to it lately. Once the flyers were taken out, it seemed to go down hill. Not really much in it that was news worthy.

to often look through it, but now can't remember the last time I really looked through it. Yet in our apartment building there are always the recent issue down in the lobby. Guess it joins Brandon Today in the history of Brandon newspapers.
