Just noticed in my statement that Canadian Tire is changing the terms of the Triangle Rewards Program, ie. electronic Canadian Tire money. If your account is inactive for 18 months your saved CT money will expire…..poof! This will be retroactive to Jun 2018 so first losses will occur Dec 1 2019.

No different than Airmiles, Westjet dollars, etc. With no account activity you can't expect them to keep ahold of bonus dollars like that. It isn't a savings account.

Maybe you don't expect them.

West Jet base rewards do not expire. Bonus rewards will. Just check your account.  
 
9. WestJet Dollar Expiry  
Effective June 6, 2017, Base Rewards (as defined herein) will not expire due to the passage of time. WestJet dollars will be maintained in the member's account and may be redeemed at any time in accordance with these terms and conditions.  
Effective June 6, 2017, Bonus Rewards (as defined herein) will expire on the individual date(s) specified in the terms or conditions of the promotion, contest or compensation initiative or, in the absence of such terms and conditions, then expiry will be one (1) year from date of issuance. Once the expiry date is reached the Bonus Rewards will expire and cannot be redeemed. Extension of Bonus Rewards is not permitted. Members may view certain applicable expiry dates for Bonus Rewards by signing into their account at westjet.com/account.
