I hope someone can clarify please.  
 
On the paths around the city are you required to stick to the right like on a city street? I really don't know the rules of the walk path and hope to find out more.  
 
Last night I was biking North on the 34th St. Path. It was downhill so I was going faster than normal. 2 teen girls were walking towards me with earbuds in and their heads down looking at their phones. There was about 4 feet between them. One was ahead of the other and one was in the middle of the path, the other directly infront of me in "my???" lane. I had to swerve between them to not take them out! They did not see or hear me coming at all.  
 
And rant time: What kind of a walk were they having anyway?! Put your phone and earbuds away, enjoy the fresh air and visit with your damn friend!  
 
Fun times trying to get some exercise in. lol

I do a lot of biking and that's exactly why I avoid the bike paths. The bike path is 8 ft wide and people take the whole width and leave no room for bikes to go by. I know this is going to start a big discussion but it is something that irritates me.

At one point, many of the paths had a dividing line down the centre. I personally try to stay on the right had side when walking and cycling, but on the street people don't obey the rules when walking and cycling either.

Bylaws only care about what/who uses the paths.  
 
Cyclists should be aware that pedestrians may wander into "their" lane.  
 
If you are irritated by pedestrian behavior, stick to the roads. I do.

like St. Albert Alberta when we walked the bike paths we had to move to the right when a bike approached and rang their bell, should be the same rules here. Safety for all.
