Wondering if anyone was outside around 11:40pm last night happen to see something fairly bright streaking over the city? I just happened to look out my bedroom window and see something bright in multiple pieces heading southwest and fading out. It would of passed directly overhead heading from the NE to the SW.

Funny you mentioned that. Wife and I were coming out of Browns last night around that time and I swore I saw what looked like a grouping of falling stars but looked as if they were coming sideways. I chalked it up to a few too many social sodas but maybe I saw it too. Neat.

Weird to say but we seen the lights too, what we seen was two lights and flying one in front of the other and then one shot passed the front one like it was a cat and mouse game lol. We’re not far from JR Ried school.

what you saw may have been parachuters doing night jumps . we live on the North Hill and there has been a lot of military jets flying around the last few days .Wondered if they were up here training from the U>S> Also caught something on Q Country about tandem jumping .

Pretty sure it wasn't parachutists. I know they had parachute jumping at the airport this weekend, but they land at the airport and during the day. The RCAF SAR Tecs do night jumps, but they also land at the airport or on the Shilo range.  
 
Adam, ya unless your security camera was recording all the time and pointed straight up, it wouldn't of seen it. And the 1 photo per minute of the camera on the church definitely would have to of been very lucky to snap a photo at the exact second it happened.  
 
I've been chatting with some members of RASC Winnipeg and it doesn't sound like they heard of any reports of the sighting. But it happened so quick, if I didn't look out my window that very second I would of missed it. It didn't light up the sky like you see video of others do or leave any after trail.  
 
Just too bad it didn't happen earlier when I was out on my balcony with the telescope, might of been able to see more of it.

Just checking my planetarium program Stellarium, and at the time the radiant point for the Perseid meteor shower was in the NE. And the trajectory would match. Even with the peak of the Perseid meteor show being Aug. 12, we would be entering the debris path of Comet Swift-Tuttle.

I was just off of Knowlton by Kirkaldy School around that time and saw something streaking off in the SW direction.
