Volunteer Opportunities with animals

My daughter is 13 and she is looking to volunteer working with animals. I tried the different kennels and humane society. In order to volunteer at the humane society you have to be 16 or else you have to be accompanied by a parent. We don't mind accompanying her however the choice of duties was very limited for her age. Just wondering if anybody has any other ideas on where she could volunteer.

Is there a Services for Seniors type volunteer organization in Brandon?

If so, perhaps your daughter could volunteer to walk dogs, clean yards and litter boxes, etc.

I contacted the Humane Society again and you have to be 16 in order to volunteer whether your accompanied by an adult or not.

Have you tried any of the vets or pet shops? How about any animal sanctuaries in or around Brandon.

There are a few others in Westman, but those are the only others IN Brandon that I'm aware of.

I've contacted the rescues and vet clinics and the response is all the same. You need to be 16 years old to volunteer.

Have you tried calling the various boarding kennels and doggy daycares in Brandon to see if they can use any volunteer help?

Maybe try posting an ad in the classifieds offering to walk dogs, dog/cat sit, etc. Some pet food stores have bulletin boards where you can post ads for animal related services - maybe you could post a similar ad there.

Sounds like you will have to wait till she is 16. I would try placing an ad for pet sitter or dog walking (etc)
