Hi. Did anyone see those kids break the tree along Sycamore tonight? If so does anyone recognize them? Stupid a-holes! Trees take so long to grow and in an instant this beautiful tree is gone. I’m so upset by these stupid kids and their vandalism!

Last weekend at 3 am I was watching tv in the dark and caught movement outside.  
Somebody thought it was really funny to throw my garbage bin over the 6’ fence to my yard. In the process my new cedar tree was sheared in one side. Doubt it will come back.  
Very frustrating  
Too bad I wasn’t aware 10 seconds earlier to let my German Shepherd out...

It is sad to see destruction by vandals. That tree will probably die. Too bad they can’t understand the consequences of their actions, but probably don’t care.

A suggestion and an opinion  
When that happen to my cedar, I got some ends of a spruce tree (any kind) from the back lane, since it was overgrown and blocking back lane anyway , kinda thought owner won't mind. Cut branches 6 to 8 inches and covered the ground under cedar a couple of inches. Reason being is that cedars love acidity and those spruce branches are natural organic acidity for the cedar loving acidity tree, and ESPICIALLY for winter, since it is wounded. Worth a try. Gr8 luck 2 u. Once the needles have let go of the branches, late spring or summer, leave the needles but clean up the branches. My cedar survived. Phew, thankyou lord. Also I put leafs galore over the spruce branches and lots of snow for tons of ground cover. Never say never till you try it.

What did they look like? I know a couple family’s down there with teenage kids

I couldn’t see their faces unfortunately. There were 5 of them and after they broke the tree they ran towards Magnolia and Sycamore. They were based on their physical size ...mid to late teens. They thought they were hilarious. But those of us for appreciate and enjoy watching the neighbourhood grow ...it breaks your heart. I only hope the city replaces it in the spring as they were the ones who planted it.

For me, a car pulled up and stopped at the intersection in front of my place.  
No big deal... at 3:00 am lots of vehicles ate trying to figure out whether to turn or not. But it was .. too long.  
When I looked there was a driver in a car and someone else running to the vehicle. The damage had already been done. Then, of course, they took off.

No problem HAGD ...it’s good to know how widespread these problems are. Thanks for your story.  
 
Reclusive girl, that’s scary! At 3am!! I sure hope your cedar tree comes back. Such a-holes!  
 
We need more people to put up night vision security cameras and block watch organizations. It’s unfortunate but it’s because the problems are getting so much worse. So our neighbourhoods need to fight back against these hoodlums!
