Why we need DST in Manitoba

With clocks going back an hour on Sunday as Daylight Saving Time ends. Just want to show why we need DST in Manitoba. Using the sunrise and sunset times for the Solstices (June 21 and December 21) as reference.
June 21 Sunrise 5:30am DST and sets at 9:50pm DST
Dec 21 Sunrise 8:30am CST and sets at 4:40pm CST
Now if we were to get rid of DST, on June 21 the Sun would rise at 4:30am and set at 8:50pm. And that's for our longest day of the year. Since most of us enjoy activities in the evening weather it be sports, camping, etc., losing an hour will really hurt those activities and businesses that rely on evening traffic.
Now if we were to move into August it gets worse, the sunsets at roughly 8:30pm DST, if we were to get rid of DST, that would mean the sunsets at 7:30pm in August! For anyone who enjoys evening outdoor activies, loosing DST will really hurt then. Think most would rather have longer evenings than earlier mornings. On the other hand. if we were to go DST year round would mean in December the Sun would rise at 9:30am and set at 5:40pm.
Just my thoughts and things to consider. I have no problem changing the clocks twice a year. It really comes down to Manitoba's location in relation to the standard time zone. Saskatchewan can get away with not having DST because of their location further to the west.
And for another reference in Winnipeg on June 21, the Sun rises at 5:20am and sets at 9:41pm. About a 10 minute difference between Brandon and Winnipeg.
