Do other facilities meet these requirements too? Does the YMCA meet all the required stuff as per requested of the sportsplex?

City dropped the ball by not renovating the change rooms and washrooms and installing a family change room when the Sportsplex pool was closed down for that extended period of time a couple of years ago (if my memory serves me correct it was closed for more then a year). I remember wondering at the time why they didn’t do that.

Things, equipment, gear, items, whatever you want to call it. Still question of is this limited to the sportsplex or does this i:nclude all other recreational facilities such as the YMCA?

Are these requests in the code book or are they recommendations. Probably when updates were being made it was to certain standards. The sun mentioned change tables too low for those in mobility devices. I don't think people would have accounted for these kinds of situations.

in this day and age no one should blink an eye if a opposite of your sex person brings an individual into a washroom to help with toileting. Some day we might be the one needing help in that regard.

While I agree if someone needs help it shouldnt be a huge issue with a washroom where stalls have doors/urinals in majority of places have dividers a change room is a different environment. In a change room people are standing/walking around naked often where as a washroom you do your business in private and move along.  
 
A family change room at sportsplex would be nice but kind of unrealistic I think without an addition to the facility. 1 single family change room would never be vacant and barely touch on the problem as it would always be occupied due to the volume of families that attend the sportsplex.  
 
A wheelchair ramp would be a welcome addition alongside the stairs as persons with disabilities and those with strollers have to either be dropped off at the ramp or go all the way from parking lot out to the sidewalk up front and either push stroller/wheelchair up the vehicle ramp. Not an easy task for a lone parent or disabled person to do.

Would a disabled person not park at the doors in the handicap parking? A ramp wouldn't be needed. As for strollers. That could be an easy fix, create a path from the bottom of the stairs cutting across to the laneway. A ramp might be tough as it would be long as it has to be a certain grade of slope.

Getting in the building doesn't create wheelchair access. Both the ramps at the front door of the Sportsplex are not legal ramps (maximum 1" rise per 1' of run). Sportsplex will require major renovations (elevator?) to make this work. I wouldn't doubt renovations to create a completely barrier-free Sportsplex costing high six figures.

What is so unkind about that?
