Someone please tell me I am reading this news item wrong!!!! The way it reads, it sounds like this "The Seal River Crossing" statue is going to cost $350,000.00 and they are going to fund raise to get more statues like it.  
Does this not sound ridiculous, if true. There are so many more things that could be done there to improve income and usefulness of this area. If true, I guess I will be rethinking any more donations to this project.  
If I am reading it wrong, I am sorry, and will still donate. It is a beautiful place to visit.

If you choose to donate to the sculpture you are donating specifically for it, not the general Brandon Riverbank fund. Your money will not be used for the sculptures unless you specifically designate it as such.

My only issue with it is what relation does it have to Brandon? The Seal River is way up North. I have never seen a Caraboo around here at all, nor heard of one. Why not depict something geared toward the Assiniboine river?

The proposed sculpture seems ridiculously overpriced. I dont think anyone in Brandon is set on paying for the artists name to be on it, we are simply wanting a nice looking fancy statue, for that could you not have one 3d printed in bronze for a tiny fraction of that cost??? Its not like that statue is big, its quite small actually.  
 
And just like others above mentioned, why is a caribou statue? The discovery center area is mainly geared towards waterfoul... could the statue not be of some form of waterfoul?  
 
Maybe this money could be better used to maintain all year round access to the pedestrian bridge.....

That is a lot of money for a statue. We should not pay more than 1/5th of that. If that is what one statute costs, we do not need a statue garden.  
 
I agree with the suggestion of what we need year-round comfortable access to the pedestrian bridge. It is ridiculous that one needs rubber boots to get there for a third of the summer. They are soo incompetent, that they can't even provide some pellets to walk-on at that mudhole, till they get their act together.  
 
I found it absolutely incompetent that they put in new pathways when they can't even maintain the ones they have. They should fix that mudhole before they spend another dime on something new.
