Hi all, passing along the follow statement from Greg Ubell of Two Farm Kids as it relates to a post that has been made a few days ago:

“ Many retail stores do not have public washrooms and are not required by law to provide public washrooms unless they provide food service, and when they do provide food service, the public washrooms must be accessible from the storefront. Staff washrooms are often accessed through warehouses, and are usually not able to be accessed by the general public for various reasons which may differ from store to store. Recently a customer at two farm kids Natural Foods was upset because staff could not allow her husband access to the staff washrooms which are not accessible from the storefront and the negative post she put on eBrandon was removed for being in contradiction with site policy. In the case of two farm kids Natural Foods, the staff washroom is located in a "Staff Only Area" through the food packaging station in the backroom and Manitoba Health Inspectors have warned management that allowing the general public to use the washroom is against health standards as they would have to go through the packaging area. Allowing the general public to use the staff washroom would be like allowing restaurant customers to pass through the kitchen to use a washroom. Stores that do not have food involved may be legally able to allow public access to staff washrooms but most may not wish to do so because of issues such as safety and security concerns. ”
